Using the Pythagorean theorem  4 would be the height and 8 would be the hypotenuse, you need to find the base

4^2 + X^2 = 8^2

16 x x^2 = 64

x^2 = 64-16
x^2 = 48

x = sqrt(48) = 6.92 feet ( round answer as needed )
