Explanation: Water potential decreases if the concentration of a solution increases. Now, if we place a plant cell in a solution with less water potential, it means solution has more solute as compared to plant cell. In this case, cell will loose water and get shrinked. This state is termed as plasmolyzed state. The more negative the water potential gets, the more solute is added to it.
