By the inclusion/exclusion principle,

\mathbb P(E\cup F)=\mathbb P(E)+\mathbb P(F)-\mathbb P(E\cap F)

Recall the law of total probability:

\mathbb P(F)=\mathbb P(E\cap F)+\mathbb P(E^C\cap F)

We're given

P(F^C)=\dfrac7{20}\implies\mathbb P(F)=1-\mathbb P(F^C)=\dfrac{13}{20}

and so

\dfrac{13}{20}=\mathbb P(E\cap F)+\dfrac{31}{100}\implies\mathbb P(E\cap F)=\dfrac{17}{50}

Now,

\mathbb P(E\cup F)=\dfrac{57}{100}+\dfrac{13}{20}-\dfrac{17}{50}=\dfrac{22}{25}

77julia77 [94]

Answer:

C. Inverse

Step-by-step explanation:

The second statement is the inverse, because in an inverse, the hypothesis and the conclusion are both negated. In this case, the sun doesnt shine and the people wont be in a good mood, as opposed to the sun will shine, and the people will  be in a good mood.

sweet [91]

We use the z statistic:

z = (x – u) / s

But first let us calculate the standard deviation s, sample x and mean u.

s = sqrt (n p q)

s = sqrt (112 * 0.77 * (1 – 0.77))

s = 4.45

x = 0.81 * 112 = 90.72

u = 0.77 * 112 = 86.24

So the z score is:

z = (90.72 – 86.24) / 4.45

z = 1.00

From the standard tables, the P value at z = 1.00 using right tailed test is:

<span>P = 0.1587 = 15.87%</span>

The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 13. If 27 is added to the number, the digits will be interchanged. Find the numbe
Lesechka [4]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

58

Discussion:

Suppose the 2-digit number is "ab". That is, 10a + b.

Sum of digits = 13  =>  a + b = 13   (*)

Digits reversed if 27 added to number  => (10a + b) + 27 = 10b + a  (**)

(**) =

(10a + b) + 27 = 10b + a            => subtract 10b, then a, from both sides

9a -9b = -27                              => divide both sides by 9

a - b = -3

From (*),  a+ b = 13 so

(a-b) + ( a+b) = -3 + 13  =>

2a = 10 =>

a = 5

As  a +b = 13, 5 + b = 13 => b = 8

Hence the number "ab" is 58

Thank you,
