There are several possible reasons why Gilman chose to write "The Yellow Wallpaper." The first reason could be that Gilman identified herself with the character. We know that she endured a similar struggle in her personal life, and writing from a first-person point of view might have allowed her to explore this experience. A second reason could be the fact that she wanted the story to have the depth of feeling and dramatism that can only be obtained from a first-person account, as opposed to the account of an observer. The story becomes a lot more passionate and disturbing when seen from this perspective. Finally, Gilman most likely employed this point of view because she wanted to show how the mental capacities of the protagonist are slowly being lost due to her isolation.

I believe that Gilman wrote "The Yellow Wallpaper" in the first person to make it seem more relatable to the readers and so that other women who had been treated the same way could see that they were not alone. Gilman wanted to break free and do what she wanted to do with her life but at this time women weren't allowed to do anything of the sort. When Gilman tore the wallpaper it symbolized her breaking free from the social norm and being free to do whatever her heart desires.

why does shakespeare most likely use arming as opposed to a word like providing? arming describes the steps brutus is taking to
pantera1 [17]

Shakespeare most likely uses arming as opposed to a word like providing because Brutus has prepared himself for whatever happens with strength.

It should be noted that the tone or the language that's used by an author is important for the readers to understand the message that is being passed.

In this case, the fact that Shakespeare used arming as opposed to providing indicated that Brutus has prepared himself for whatever happens with strength.

Why does the author include details about Myrtle's spending
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

The author includes details about Myrtle's spending habits:

B. to show that Myrtle spends Tom's money.

Explanation:

Myrtle and Tom are characters in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby." Tom and Myrtle are married, but not to each other. Tom, who is a millionaire, is married to Daisy, who also comes from a rich family. Myrtle, on the other hand, is married to George Wilson, a mechanic and owner of a gas station.

Even though Myrtle is poor, she acts as if she were rich when she is with Tom. It is as if his money is her money. At a certain point in the story, on their way to the apartment Tom bought specially to meet with her, Myrtle has Tom buy her a dog. They then spend the whole day drinking and partying with a group of friends. The author includes these details to show that Myrtle has a sense of ownership when it comes to Tom and his money. She wants comfort and luxury, so she uses her lover's money to obtain them.

Which detail provides the most cultural context for this excerpt about the Cold War? There was also a sense of urgency. The Pent
tankabanditka [31]

The detail that provides the most cultural context from the excerpt about the Cold War is the following: There was also a sense of urgency. The Pentagon was worried that the shattered remains of the Soviet Union might be rebuilt before the United States. That phrase gives the most cultural context reference about the Cold War as there was a constant tension between both powers. There were plenty of different possible scenarios in which either of them would win over the other one, including a possible nuclear war. The sensation of uncertainty was reigning through the Cold War era.

This excerpt belongs to the book called "Visions: how Science will revolutionize the 21st Century" written by American theoretical physicist Michio Kaku and first published in 1997.
