The correct answer is Western music. Many influences of Western music comes from medieval times such as romantic, classical, and baroque.

Most of the Western secular music came from the troubadours who composed their poems into music. The topics of the compositions were about love and relationships. Their songs were notated as rows of pitches.

Western music also has many influences from medieval times in terms of notes, intervals, and scales. That really impacted western music in touching emotions. Greek writings were the base of European music. Ancient Greece and Rome had many musical instruments like horns, lyres, and flutes.

It was difficult to read ancient notation, that is why musical concepts were transmitted through oral tradition.
