B. Manchuria and southern China: By the 1930s Japan wanted to extend their empire far most than they already had, they were controlling Korea by that time and extended their control over Manchuria in 1932 and then to China.

A. Natural resources: After being attacked by Japan, China went to the League of Nations to appeal and they sent a mission to Manchuria. After one year the League forced Japan to return the territory to China but instead, Japan walked out of the league. The United States freezes Japanese assets in America and lost the majority of its imported oil reserves.

A. Pearl Harbor: Japan planned the attack as a preventive action to avoid United States fleet possible intervention in South Asia.
