The answer is: Both poems contain visual imagery of internment camps.
Mirikitani's "Attack the Water" connects to Rukeyser's "Poem" as both targets what the people experienced during the war. Both of these poems show that although people are not involved directly in a war, war can still have an immense impact on their lives.

Mary is giving a persuasive speech about the benefits of adoption over abortion and wants to engage her audience early on. Which
adelina 88 [10]
C.

First of all, in this statement the speaker introduces herself and immediately lets the audience know why this topic is so important to her. Audiences are more likely to be invested in a speech if they know the speaker is personally invested in the cause. It also begins with an example of pathos--an emotional appeal to the audience--which is effective in drawing an audience in.

You want to avoid throwing a lot of numbers or other researchers' names at the audience immediately upon starting (even though you will definitely want to use those things within the speech) because they will make the tone seem too formal or fact-based before the audience has a chance to become invested.

Imagine there was a shipwreck. You are stranded in a lifeboat with a tiger. Both of you are hungry and thirsty. You fear the tig
Triss [41]

Answer and Explanation:

You: I can tell by the look in your eyes that you're thinking of eating me.

Tiger: That's true. I am indeed.

You: Well, I'd like to advise you against that. If you eat me, your chances of surviving afterwards will diminish.

Tiger: I doubt that. If I eat you, I will gain strength. Consequently, I'll be able to survive for a few more days. That might be enough for a ship to show up and rescue me.

You: That reasoning is good, but flawed. Yes, you will gain strength that will last for a few days. However, if a ship does not show up in a few days, you will die. Fishing is not one of your abilities as a tiger, so you won't catch anything to eat after devouring me. Also, if a ship does show up, the crew may very well be afraid of taking you with them for fear that you might attack and eat them.

Tiger: I see... go on.

You: If you keep me alive, we will solve all of those issues. I can fish for the both of us. We'll both maintain our strength until a ship shows up, even if it takes long. When that happens, they will certainly take us in. I will vouch for you, letting them know you were civilized enough not to eat me. Therefore, they can trust you not to eat them.

Tiger: I see your point, and it is a good one. I promise not to eat you if you promise to keep your word.

You: I promise. We have a deal.

what are three actions that kashyap argues brands should take to improve conditions for their workers
sveta [45]

This question is about the article "When Clothing Labels Are a Matter of Life or Death".

Answer:

Promote visibility, extinguish subcontracting, pressure from investors.

Explanation:

In the article Kashyap shows how the clothing and footwear manufacturing industries have been one of the biggest centers of disrespect for human rights, causing workers to work exhaustively, earning few wages and being subjected to inhospitable environments and with little security.

For Kashyap, there are three processes that can prevent this from happening and can improve the lives of these workers. These processes are the transparency of the companies that consume the products of these industries, showing how the entire production process is, the extinction of subcontracting, which subjects workers to inhuman conditions of employment and pressure from investors who can charge for better working conditions.
