A researcher approximated the number of marigold plants in a region of desert that is roughly square shaped with a side length o

f 140 miles. As part of the process, she counted the number of marigold plants in a small part of the region and determined that the density of the marigold plant was about 279 plants per square mile. She assumed the density of marigold plants was the same throughout the region.
Which expression would the researcher have most likely used when making her approximation for the number of marigold plants in the square shaped region?

(3×102)(2×104)

(3×102)(2×105)
2×1043×102
2×1042×102

Solution:

Side of Square shaped region in which marigold plants are Planted = 140 miles

Area of The Square shaped region in which marigold plants are Planted

    =Side × Side

 =140 × 140

=19,600 square miles

Density of marigold plant =279 plants per square mile.

→→Total number of plants in the region = 19,600 × 279

                       =54,68,400

Now coming to Options,to find which expression product gives 5468400.

Option 1: ⇒ (3×102)×(2×104)=306 × 208=63648

Option 2: ⇒(3×102)×(2×105)=306 × 210=64260

Option 3: ⇒2×1043×102=212,772

Option 4: ⇒2×1042×102=212,568

→→None of the option gives , number of trees in the square region which is equal to 5468400.

None of the expression given , the researcher have most likely used when making her approximation for the number of marigold plants in the square shaped region.

What is the equation of the translated function, g(x), if f(x) = x2?
Eddi Din [679]

All of these would be translated versions of f(x).

A translated version is simply one in which the base equation is used and then moved. Each of these equations are quadratics with a starting term of x^2. All of them move up and down or side to side in some way and direction, but all of them would be translated versions of that graph.

Two students, Claude and Diane, were asked to use synthetic division and the Remainder Theorem to find the value of f(2) given f
ad-work [718]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A

In applying the synthetic division, the polynomial would be fully expressed as

2x³ + 0x² + 5x - 6

The coefficients are 2, 0, 5 and - 6

The working becomes

2| 2 0 5 -6

4 8 16

2 4 13 10

The student that correctly used synthetic division to find f(2) is Claudia

Part B

The value of f(2) is

2(2)^3+5(2) - 6

= (2 × 8) + 10 - 6

= 16 + 10 - 6 = 20

Part C

x - 2 is not a factor of 2x³ + 5x - 6 because there is a remainder of 20.

Part D

The methods that can be used to find out if x - 2 is a factor of 2x³ + 5x - 6 are synthetic division, long division, remainder theorem
