"Alone in the jungle, Rainsford is afraid."

Answer: Supports

Explanation: In the beginning of the story, Rainsford is portrayed as a fearless hunter, but when he is alone in the jungle, he is the complete opposite.

"Rainsford is a well-known hunter."

Answer: Does not support

Explanation: Being a "well-known hunter" is Rainsford's reputation, not the character he portrays in secret.

"The barber is skilled at his job."

Answer: Does not support

Explanation: The statement regarding the barber's expertise is something everyone is aware of, it does not refer to what he does in secret.

"The barber has been secretly helping the rebels."

Answer: Supports

Explanation: The fact that he is secretly helping the rebels is who he secretly is. Being a barber is only a secondary trait, or a cover up for what is truly important.

Which descriptive details from the text best help the reader visualize the specific early Victorian tea set that is the central
iogann1982 [59]
I believe you are referring to this text:

<span>In the eighteenth century Josiah Wedgwood had made some of the most expensive stoneware ceramics – in jasper and basalt – in Britain, but this tea set shows that by the 1840s, when Wedgwood produced it, the company was aiming at a much wider market. This is quite clearly mid-range pottery, simple earthenware of a sort that many quite modest British households were then able to afford. But the owners of this particular set must have had serious social aspirations, because all three pieces have been decorated with a drape of lacy hallmarked silver.

From the text, the descriptive detail that best aids the reader to visualize the central topic which is a specific early Victorian tea set is "</span><span>some of the most expensive stoneware</span>".

Doug is fluent in French. Does he need to pick a French dictionary when he travels to France?explain.
xenn [34]
Yes, I think so. Fluent means he knows the language by heart whether that is his first language or not. However, he still could forget some things. Here in the U.S. We still look stuff up all the time in dictionary's or on our phones even though we are fluent in the language. So getting a French dictionary will help more.

Read the excerpt from “Like Mexicans.”
zimovet [89]
The correct answer is C. <span>Soto relates a story from his life to make a point about what it means to live in a multicultural society.

The other answers can be eliminated because this excerpt is not criticizing marriage, presenting guidelines on how to live, or showing how one's heritage can limit choices.

Instead, he is relating a story from his life to show what it means to live in a multicultural society. Ultimately, even though people may be from different cultures, they still share many similarities. This is made clear by the final line: Her people were like Mexicans, only different.</span>
