The correct answer is B. These lines depict Heorot's grandeur.

In Beowulf, Heorot is Hrothgar's mead-hall, which is the place where the warriors drink and eat. This is also the hall that Beowulf defends against the monster. The hero saves Heorot from being attacked by Grendel. In this excerpt, Heorot is described as a splendid grand hall ("the greatest of hall-buildings"). Furthermore, its size, which is wide-reaching, is also characterized as impressive.

The lines in this excerpt from Beowulf depict Heorot's qualities of elegance. This characteristic that was depicted in the lines from the excerpt is how Heorot was usually depicted: "the foremost of halls under heaven". Therefore, Heorot was extravagant and elegant.

Identify the verbal and its function in the sentence: We were hoping to begin a game of chess. (5 points) It is a participle fun
puteri [66]
I will answer your question, but you may want to do a search on the English Grammar Revolution to help you with future questions in this subject. Anyways, the verbal in this sentence is "hoping to begin". This means it is a participle, but despite the seeming obviousness of the answer from there I don't want to go with either A or B. However, I do believe if either one is a choice I would go with B rather than A.

Answer: D. Updating the line of reasoning in the final paragraph to acknowledge Gallup's contrasting perspective and respond to it.

Explanation:

The options include:

B. Changing the thesis statement to argue that the study was faulty because it did not follow Gallup's methodology

C. Incorporating Gallup's response into the first paragraph after describing his original study on Chimpanzees

D. Updating the line of reasoning in the final paragraph to acknowledge Gallup's contrasting perspective and respond to it

E. Expanding on the description of the cleaner wrasse's penchant for eating parasites off other fish.

The change that the writer will need to make in order for this new information to work in the context of the overall argument the writer is making is to update the line of reasoning in the final paragraph to acknowledge Gallup's contrasting perspective and respond to it.

When this is done, it should be reliable to the readers which can be done by supporting the statement with facts.
