It's slightly ambiguous because the year isn't an even number of weeks, so sometimes that extra day falls on a weekend and sometimes on a weekday.  We'll assume a weekend; that makes the numbers come out nice.

Total working days, 52 five day weeks minus 30 days vacation

d = 52 \times 5 - 30 = 230

So his daily rate is

119600/230 = 520  dollars per day

Answer: A

It's closer to $518 when we count the extra day as a weekday.

Your question asks for an expression, so you would expect an answer in the form of an equation containing variables. This is because you have only 2 independent equations with 3 unknowns. That makes the system unsolvable.

Suppose v₁ is the mountaineer's velocity during the 1,000-foot trail. Then, v₂ is his speed for the 5,000-foot trail. The equation relating these two variables is:

v₂ = 2v₁ - 10 ---> equation 1

Then, you find the equation for the total number of hours he climbed. That would be the distance divided by their respective speed.

t = 1000/v₁ + 5000/v₂ ----> equation 2

Substituting equation 1 to equation 2,

t = 1000/v₁ + 5000/(2v₁ - 10)
t = 1000/v₁ + 5000/2(v₁-5)
t = 1,000/v₁ + 2,500/(v₁-5)

Miss Watson runs a distance of 200 meters in 25 seconds. Workout the average speed of Mrs Watson in meters per second.
Readme [11.4K]
Hey there!

Divide 200 by 25.

200/25= 8

She is running an average of 8 m/s. (that's how we represent meters per second)

I hope this helps!

7 girls audition for 12 roles in a school play. What is the probability that at least 2 of the girls audition for the same part?
Sophie [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

This is one minus the probability that all the girls audition for different roles. The total number of ways of assigning roles to the girls is 12^7, because to each of the 7 girls, you have a choice of 12 roles.

Then if each girl is to receive a different role, then there are 12!/5! possibilities for that. If you start assigning roles to the girls, then for the first girl, there are 12 choices, but for the next you have to choose one of the 11 different ones, so 11 for the next, and then one of the 10 remaining for the next etc. etc., and this is 12*11*10*...*6 = 12!/(12-7)! =12!/5!

The probability that a random assignment of one of the 12^7 roles would happen to be one of the 12!/5! roles where each girl has a different role, is

(12!/5!)/12^7 = 12!/(12^7 5!)

Then the probability that two or more girls addition for the same part is the probability that not all the girls are assigned different roles, this is thus:

1 - 12!/(12^7 5!)
