Thomas Hardy's poems, and most of his works, reflected C. the grim outlook of the late Victorian era. He was very critical of the decline status of the rural people in Britain. A lot of his work concerned tragic characters struggling with social circumstances. He criticized Victorian beliefs that caused unhappiness. His poems doesn't reflect an appreciation for love and life but disappointment in those subjects.
