Answer:

C. Mark Antony refutes Brutus’ accusations of Caesar being overly ambitious by giving examples of his humility and his great love for Romans, whom he named as heirs in his will; mutiny might be an expected reaction from the Roman crowd.

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's tragedy play "Julius Caesar" revolves around the story of how Caesar was murdered by Brutus and Cassius, instigated by other conspirators. And after the death of Caesar, Brutus gave the people the chance to listen to mark Antony's speech.

After the death of Caesar, Mark Antony was with the corpse of Caesar along with the people of Rome. When the masses shouted with their want, that Brutus be made the king/ ruler over them, Brutus requested them to listen to Mark Antony's speech and see for themselves what they want to be done. The speech that Antony gave regarding Caesar refutes Brutus' claim that Caesar was overly ambitious. Instead of being over ambitious, Antony pictured Caesar to be a man full of humility, and how he had great love for his people. He also revealed that Caesar had written his will where he called them his "heirs". By presenting the other side of Caesar that was unlike what Brutus had given to the people, Antony changed the perspective of the people. The expected reaction of the people was mutiny, for Antony's speech had changed their perception of what Caesar was and what he seemed to really be.

slamgirl [31]

Answer:

C: She wishes to calm Mary and cover up her own lack of composure.

Explanation:

Jane Austen's "Persuasion" revolves around the life of a young woman named Anne Elliot and her struggles with family, love, and friendship. The novel deals with the common themes of social status, class rigidity, marriage, and one's profession as deemed 'fit' in a society.

In the given passage from the text, Mary revealed she saw Mr. Elliot and Mrs. Clay together which Anne denied for Mr. Elliot <em>"was to leave Bath at nine this morning, and does not come back till to-morrow."</em> But when Mary insisted it was them, Anne had no choice but to go and see for herself. She did it mainly to calm Mary and also to hide her embarrassment in not knowing what is really going on or who Mr. Elliot really is.

Thus, the correct answer is option C.
