The significance of the title, "The Passing", would be that it shows how humans can respond to each other in pressing times and also in how time can be either an asset or liability in regards to personal relationships. In the film we see that jealousy plays a key role and with it we can see how the passing of time can be interpreted. In this case, it would seem that it would be negative in aspect.

The title of the story "The Passing" is in reference to the death of Joe Willow. His death was the climax of the story, and the point where Sonny realizes that he and Joe still have a spiritual connection, even after death.
