Read this excerpt from "Painting Freedom on the Walls." There are many ways to honor a heritage, express a yearning for freedom,

and celebrate a culture. Art is one of the most positive of those ways, and public art is one of the most effective. A remarkable illustration of this truth is the “freedom mural.” This kind of public art that has been created by the Latino community of California for more than half a century. Since a mural is a large painting on a wall, you need a wall to make a mural. It’s easy to find a wall in most California cities. There are blank walls on the sides of buildings and bridges and overpasses. And there are a lot of bright, sunny days that are perfect for painting pictures of everything from mountains to flowers to cultural heroes. There is also something very important in California that was made invisible for a long time. Which statement best describes the point of view of this excerpt? The excerpt is told by a first-person narrator who shares an eyewitness account. The excerpt is told by a second-person narrator who addresses the reader. The excerpt is told by a third-person narrator who shares facts and observations. The excerpt is told by an omniscient narrator who has knowledge of the future.

The statement that best describes the point of view of this excerpt is (c.) the excerpt is told by a third-person narrator who shares facts and observations.

The third person point-of-view is one of the perspectives through which a story is told. A third person narrator tells the things and situations that he sees. Moreover, this type of narrator does not use the pronoun "I" or "we" and he does not detail information about himself either. In this excerpt from "Painting Freedom on the Walls", the author refers to public art in California by sharing different facts. Furthermore, he/she describes the walls of California cities based on previous observation.

Based on the context of each excerpt from F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams," choose the definition that most closely matches
brilliants [131]

Emphasize - Accentuated: As she took her stance for a short mashie shot, Dexter looked at her closely. She wore a blue gingham dress, rimmed at throat and shoulders with a white edging that accentuated her tan.

In this passage it is saying that the white edging of the dress made the darkness of her skin stand out. Emphasize means the same as stand out of accentuate.

Childish sulkiness or bad-temper - petulance: During dinner she slipped into a moody depression which gave Dexter a feeling of uneasiness. Whatever petulance she uttered in her throaty voice worried him.

She is described as being in a moody depression. This best fits with the definition of sulkiness or bad-temper.

Practical, Ordinary - mundane: "You're not. I like you. But I've just had a terrible afternoon. There was a man I cared about, and this afternoon he told me out of a clear sky that he was poor as a church-mouse. He'd never even hinted it before. Does this sound horribly mundane?"

Another word for mundane is ordinary. Mundane is used to give ordinary a more boring connotation.
