The cell membrane controls the traffic of molecules into and out of the cell, prevents the entry of toxic material into the cell

and permits selective uptake of nutrients. Which property of the membrane can this be attributed to?

D, since it is semi-permeable then it will be able to control what enters and leaves. The cell membrane is a bi-layer its outer surface is hydrophilic and inner surface is hydrophbic so the substances that pass through it have to be sufficiently hydrophobic and hydrophilic in order to pass it and it also has small openings in it which allows the free exchange

Finger [1]

In this case, when Alicia is being tickled by her older sister, the divisions of the nervous system which are responsible for receiving the signals from her sister’s fingers are called somatosensory cortex and anterior cingulated cortex nervous system.

When you are touched lightly, the effect of having that ticklish sensation is caused by the analysis of two regions of the brain. For example, when our brain analyses the pressure of the touch, this is the work of the somatosensory cortex. On the other hand, as soon as something touches your skin, the signal sent from the skin's sensory receptors also passes through the anterior cingulated cortex. This is where the pleasant feelings are governed.

Wes places red blood cells in a petri dish with pure water and observes them under a microscope. He drew a model to illustrate h
lys-0071 [83]

The correct answer is: D. The red blood cells were placed in a hypotonic solution. Water moved from the outside of the cells to the inside of the cells until the cells burst.

Hypotonic solution can be described as solution that has less solute and more water (H2O) than another solution. In order to maintain homeostasis, the water will move (via osmosis) into the cell, through the semipermeable membrane of the red blood cell.

What type of weathering can be considered the "rusting" of rock?
In-s [12.5K]
Hello,

Chemical weathering can be considered by the "rusting of rock".

Weathering can be described of the breaking down of rocks and other materials on the Earth's surface. There are three types of weathering: mechanical, chemical, and biological. Mechanical weathering is the type of weathering in which rock is physically broken into smaller pieces. Chemical weathering is the type of weathering in which chemical changes break down rock. Biological weathering is the type of weathering in which animal, plant, and microbes means weaken and or disintegrate rock.

Imagine a species with three loci thought to be on the same chromosome. The recombination rate between locus A and locus B is 35
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

Recombination rate or recombination frequency between locus A and locus C is either 2% or 50%.

Explanation:

As given,

Recombination frequency between locus A and B is 35%, means that the distance between A and B is 35 cM.

Recombination frequency between locus B and C is 33% , means the distance between B and C is 33 cM.

Therefore, if the locus C is present between A and B, then the recombination frequency between A and C would be 2%

A-----C ----------B

A---C= 2%

A----B= 35%

B---C= 33%

So, here the recombination frequency between A and C is 2%, means their distance is 2 cM.

If the locus C is as, A---35---B--33----C ; A-----B------C

A-----B= 35%

B------C= 33%

A-----C= 33+35= 68%

As rule, maximum frequency can not exceed 50%, as here the Recombination frequency between A and C = 50%.
