To start with, we can see the George Orwell make a comparison in the values of the working animals with the values and Napoleon and the pigs by contrasting them with some important characters in that time. For instance, Snowball who is one of the pigs refers to Leon Trotsky and this animal is really intelligent and an animated pig and he is also an intrepid fighter. On the other hand, we can see a Boxer who is one of the working animals and the values that he has is that he is caring, loyal, faithful, strong and hard working. This animal represents peasant workers from Russia. So, basically, the comparison given is between the high-class people with the low-class people.

Animal farm is a fable written by George Orwell about the negative effects of a communist regime. By using animals  Orwell clearly depicts  characteristics of those in power. He chooses  pigs to embody the regime´s leaders.Napoleon is the meanest and less scrupulous of the pigs. He is the  greediest, most ambitiuous of the lot .He feels no remorse for betraying the cause he pretended to embrace. He lies, deceives the other animals with false promises of a brighter future such as the building of the windmill. In short,  Napoleon and the pigs are less than acceptable in terms of morality.

On the other hand, the animals on the farm are trusting and loyal, especially boxer, the cart-horse. He stands at the other end of the moral spectrum compared to the pigs. He is honest, hard-working,deeply believes and follows the ideals of the revolution. He puts  his heart and soul to build the windmill because he wants to  improve the welfare of his farm and fellow animals.

Based on the story of Ursula Le Guin's "The Wife's Story", reread lines 120-131. With a small group, discuss why the wolves kill
miv72 [106K]

In Ursula Le Guin's "The Wife's Story" readers witness how a pack of wolves kill "the human thing".

From the perspective of a mother, one may understand that it was a necessary thing to do rather than the right one. As we can see in the text itself, the "human thing" was behaving in a very aggressive manner, trying to attack and kill his own children with a branch from a tree. Being left with no other choice, wolves, being predators by nature, protected the cubs and killed the attacker thus depriving him of any chances to repeat his violent actions in future.

As humans, we detest murder as a way of punishment or revenge, but in the given story we deal with wolves, and such behaviour is understandable from their perspective, moreover, one can clearly see that this was done only for protection.
