Convincing someone that you're right.
The sentence, "Love you ten years before the Flood," directly contains a Biblical Allusion. This was a story about Noah and his ark where God sent a great flood to wipe out the bad deeds of men and clean off Earth of impurities and start anew. In the poem, the writer is trying to show his love for his mistress that is unstoppable and can go to great lengths.
I think the narrator grew to love the French culture than of
his original roots. In the poem “Book of Songs”, Heine had stated that he did
not like the French culture at all. He was torn between loving his German roots
or follows the French culture that he was accustomed to. It was only when he
was older that he was able to appreciate the French culture during the Prussian
Regime.
