The first alternative is correct.

The human being is very complex. There are strands of our behavior and attitudes that we know well, and others we do not know. Likewise, people who relate to us also see our behaviors and attitudes in their way, also having an area known to them about us and another area we do not know about ourselves.

The Johari Window is a theory that serves to explain the four bases on which human interaction occurs:

- Your "Open Me" is the one that you and other people know and perceive.

-Your I Hidden "is the one that only you know.

- Your "I Blind" is the one that only you do not see, but the others know.

- Your "Unknown Self" is one that neither you nor others have access to.

James's case fits into the "hidden self" in which only he knows, as his behavior has been described as guarding the important issues.
