When an author introduces a character, he can use both implicit and explicit descriptions. Explicit descriptions detail the characteristics of a person, so that the reader does not need to reach his own conclusions about them. On the other hand, implicit descriptions are developed by describing a character's actions and thoughts and letting the reader reach his own conclusions. In the case of heroes and monsters, the author can use descriptions such as the need to help or the need to harm in order to develop these characters.
