Any living thing can be defined as the organism that has life. A chimpanzee and a pine tree have very little in common but we can say they are living things as they are made up of one or more cells.

They both perform all the processes that is responsible for living like respiration, reproduction et cetera.

They are made of cells and perform the vital processes for living.

Of the following items listed below, which is the best description for why skeletal muscle stores glycogen? Of the following ite
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

Skeletal muscle stores glycogen because it is a heavy consumer of energy.

Explanation:

Skeletal fiber contractions are based on different physiological and biochemical phenomena that happen in every cell and that need an amount of energy to occur. During muscle contraction, myosin binds to the uncovered actin-binding sites, producing littles power strokes that, continuously, lead to muscle contraction. To make this process possible, the muscle needs energy.

Glycogen is a very important energetic reserve polysaccharide for animals. It is stored in the liver and muscles, and when the organism needs energy it degrades glycogen into glucose, which is an available form for the metabolism. In the liver, glycogen is used to maintain constant levels of blood glucose. While in muscles, glycogen plays an important role in the glucose storage as a source of energy, needed and used only for contraction.

During muscle contraction, ATP molecules obtained from glucose are split to ADP and inorganic phosphate.

Due to the Earth's shape and orientation, areas near the equator receive the greatest amount of energy from the Sun. Ocean curre
kirza4 [7]

The answer is B. Warm current move away from the equator towards the poles while cold currents concurrently move towards the equator. This process is known as thermohaline circulation. The cold currents due to higher density move in the great depth of the oceans while the warmer currents are on the surface due to their relatively lower density.

A botanist wants to see how different colored light waves influence the growth of pea plants. She puts the same number of seeds
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

The amount of light they receive.

Explanation:

In an experiment, the independent variable is the part of the experiment that the experimenter changes. In this experiment, the only thing that's different for each of the plants is the amount of light they receive. Everything else is the same - the same amount of soil, same amount of water, same pots, and so on.
