Howard Zinn reflected on the events that occurred during the Pullman Railway Strike of 1894. Workers from the Pullman Railway Company sought to join the American Railway Union, as they saw themselves harshly affected by the wage cuts the company had put in effect. After hearing the workers' complaints, the Union decided to enter on a nationwide strike, which included the cease of use of any type of Pullman car. The strike was highly effective and in little time there were hundreds of Pullman cars stranded on the railways throughout the country.

The judicial system executed a court injunction against blocking trains. However, this was widely disregarded by the union workers. As a response to this, President Cleveland ordered troops to go to Chicago and suppress all of the violent acts. As a result, 30 workers ended up dead during struggles with the soldiers. Zinn proposed that the actions of the government were orchestrated along with the Pullman Company, as it operated in an industry that was critical for the country's economy and could not be stopped.

Answer:

The Great Compromise was a compromise between large states and small states on the formation of a new constitution.

Explanation:

After American independence the Articles of Confederation resulted in many challenges in the smooth functioning of the state, and a convention was called to discuss the fomation of a new constitution also known as the Constitutional Convention 1987. Two alternatives were proposed: first was the Virginia Plan, and second the New Jersey Plan. According to the Virginia Plan there would be three branches of government namely legislature, executive and judiciary. Legislature would consist of two houses: upper and lower. And representation in these houses would be based on population. On the other hand the New Jersey Plan also proposed three branches of government. It, however, called for a single house legislature with powers of trade and taxation with each state having one vote. Small states opposed Virginia Plan; Virginia was a large state. Whereas large states opposed the New Jersey Plan; New Jersey was a small state. In the final plan a compromise was reached also known as the Great Compromise. According to the final plan the legislature would consist of two houses: the Senate and the House of Representatives. Each state would have equal members in Senate; in the House of Representatives the member would be based on population. The money bill would originate from House of Representative; this satisfied the large states. This plan also served the interests of small states by giving them more seats in upper house than they could otherwise have.

) new forms of mass culture emerged in the united states in the 1920s and in the 1950s. briefly explain one important similarity
MissTica
The 1920s and 1950s are similar in the sense that a new culture emerged. One similarity between these time periods is that they represent the United States emerging from a World War. World War I (1914-1919) and World War II (1939-1945) were two enormous global events that affected American society and alter what culture develops afterwards.

One common culture that developed during the 20's and 50's was consumerism. Consumerism is an social and economic idea that focuses on developing products that will interest the consumer (aka buyer). During both eras, companies began to advertise items in a manner that convinced American citizens to buy them. This rise of consumerism resulted in the increased purchase of items that people wanted, but didn't necessarily need.

Even though most Americans would fall into this category, there were some critics to this consumer culture. During the 1950's the Beatnik generation developed as an anti-conformist culture. Some of them saw capitalism and the increased consumerism in American society as negative.
