Read the passage from "By the Waters of Babylon.” I told and he listened. After that, I wished to tell all the people but he sho

wed me otherwise. He said, "Truth is a hard deer to hunt. If you eat too much truth at once, you may die of the truth. It was not idly that our fathers forbade the Dead Places." He was right—it is better the truth should come little by little. I have learned that, being a priest. Perhaps, in the old days, they ate knowledge too fast. Which theme is best reflected in the resolution of this excerpt? Speaking with honesty leads to wisdom. Facing the truth is not an easy task. Coming of age requires courage. Rules are created to protect the weak.

"By the Waters of Babylon" is a short story by Stephen Vincent Benét. The main character, John, is a priest and a priest's son who has lived in a post-apocalyptic world. He decides to travel to a forbidden place, a place where it is believed by himself and his people that gods used to live. After crossing the river Hudson and reaching New York, John finds out that the beings they believed to be gods were, in truth, men like himself and his peers. He realizes there are no demons haunting the place and also becomes aware of the fact that his people should be able to build great buildings and work with metal just like men used to do in the past.

In the excerpt, John has just returned home and told his father what he has seen. His father cautions him not to tell others the same way he told him. Since people have been living with wrong convictions for so long, they will probably not be able to take it all in at once, and might even doubt John, call him a liar or a crazy man. But if the truth is revealed little by little, people may get used to the idea that men caused their own destruction and that they are able to rebuild the world. Therefore, the best option seems to be: facing the truth is not an easy task.

Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World starts with an introduction to a state in which the authorities try to control society by
NNADVOKAT [17]

Brave New World carries the the characteristics of current science and technology, but the technology is far beyond what is actually possible. The novel renders a future society where the population is controlled to the points that they abandon ethics, morality, and emotion. Brave New World differed from other science fiction novels because it doesn't feature monsters, aliens, or the supernatural creatures. However, it practices the themes which inspired the later works in science fiction writing.

Having just finished a tough book report, alyssa looked forward to a relaxing weekend spent with her family.Which is the correct
kifflom [539]

A seems like the right answer. Normally if a sentence sounds right, it is.

B is wrong because it makes it seem like she finished a book report with her family. The words are all mixed up.

C is wrong because it says she looked forward to having just finished... it doesn't make sense. She was looking forward to a relaxing weekend, not the report.

D is wrong because the words are all mixed up and doesn't make sense.

Hope this helps!
