Answer:

This hormone was made by a different cell, and it’s now being taken in by another cell using a steroid receptor. The steroid receptor is affecting the process of transcription in the nucleus so that a specific type of mRNA can exit the cell and form a new protein in the ribosomes. This formation wouldn’t be possible unless specialized cells were working together to perform this function.

Indeed, steroid hormones have an important role in the well-being of the individual through specialized cells (having specific receptors). Take the example of vitamin D.

Vitamin D is involved in calcium and phosphorus absorption by the intestines, as well as in their reabsorption by the kidneys. It is involved also in bone mineralization of the skeleton and joints, as well as on muscle tone.

The mechanism of action of the hormone is identical to the scheme:

Its carrier is vitamin D-binding protein

The cell may be an intestinal cell, bone cells or renal cells.

The vitamin acts on the DNA is activating / inhibiting certain genes encoding proteins so as to increase the level of calcium in blood.

an organism's Fitness describes how well it is adapted to its environment the environment is made of biotic and abiotic factors
jeyben [28]

Answer:

Both biotic and abiotic factors affect the survival and reproductive success rate of fishes in an ecosystem.

The number of predators that a particular type of fish will have will influence the survival and reproductive rate of that fish. An increased number of predators will mean that the fishes will not be able to survive in that ecosystem and will be eaten up.

The number of preys will also affect the survival rate of fishes in an environment. The lesser the number of preys, the more the competition for food among species.

Abiotic factors like the concentration of salts in water will also influence the survival and reproduction of fishes. If a fish is not adapted to live in saline water conditions, then accumulation of salts in the ecosystem might destroy the whole fish species in that ecosystem.

Human activities, like the throwing of wastes into the aquatic ecosystem, drainage of fertilizers in the aquatic system can also destroy the survival and reproduction rate of a particular kind of aquatic animal species.

Paladinen [302]

Answer: 1.) You want to answer, possibly, your hypothesis.

2.) If you have a prompt and a claim, write your hypothesis down in this form: If ______________, then________________.

3.) Use the scientific process of performing an experiment, like observation, measurement, etc.

4.) LABEL all the sides of your (bar, line, etc) graph.

5.) Write a sentence using your graph in this form:

It (increased/decreased)_________ because _________.

This value is the (greatest/least) __________ because ___________.

6.) Explain why or why not the hypothesis supported your observations and measurements.

My hypothesis (did/didn't) support my experiment because ____________.

7.) In other words, how does your graph, observations, etc., go along with your hypothesis?

Hope this helps.

The circularly arranged smooth muscle fibers in the highlighted structure perform which function?
puteri [66]

Answer:constriction of pupil

Explanation:the circularly arranged smooth muscle fibers in the highlighted structure ie the iris causes constriction of the pupil.

The iris basically has ciliary muscles that control Lens shape ,this happens when the ciliary muscles under the signal of the parasympathetic nervous system contract leading to the constriction of the pupil and when these muscles relax then dilation of the pupil will occur

Use the model of meiosis that you made earlier in the lesson to explain how crossing over contributes to genetic diversity. How
matrenka [14]

Answer:

Due to exchange of parts of chromosome.

Explanation:

Crossing over is the exchange of segments or parts of chromosome between non-sister chromatids in the meiosis cell division. Due to crossing over, new combinations of genes in the gametes are formed that are not found in both parent which leads to genetic diversity. Crossing over affects the expression of certain traits in the organism because the organism that crossing over have different features as compared to their parents so there is a big difference between organism have crossing over and no crossing over.

A probe is launched from Earth and lands on Mars. The gravitational acceleration on Mars is 3.7 m/s2.
ki77a [65]

The correct option is this: THE MASS OF THE PROBE REMAINS THE SAME, BUT THE WEIGHT OF THE PROBE DECREASES.

The mass of an object is a measure of the amount of substance it contains and this amount always remain the same unless there is a change in quantity of matter. This is the reason why the mass of a substance will remain constant, no matter where it is placed, whether on planet earth or on another planet. The weight of a substance on the other hand is a force, whose value depends on the force of gravity. Thus, the force of gravity that exist in the place, where the object is placed will determine its weight.
