Which statement correctly describes a possible result if starch indicator is added to the water in the beaker one hour after the

potato cube was added

Answer:

The starch indicator will take on a color between blue and black.

Explanation:

When you put a piece of potato in a glass of water, the starch in the potato will start to come out of the potato and stay in the water. After an hour it is likely that all of the potato starch is in the water.

When the starch comes in contact with the water in the cup, it starts to occupy the spaces between the water molecules, which means that we have a solution (starch + water), when the starch indicator is added to this solution, it reacts with the starch molecules and takes on a color between blue and black.

In his study of pea plants, Gregor Mendel used which method to produce offspring?
dalvyx [7]
The answer is cross-pollination, by using parents that had different traits.

Gregor Mendel researched pea plants and he established the principles of heredity. To explain his experiments and discoveries, he invented terms dominant and recessive in reference to traits. In his experiments, he used cross pollination which includes the crossing of parents with different traits. For example, he crossed a plant with green peas and a plant with yellow peas (two different traits) and studied how these traits are inherited to the next generation.

A strand of DNA contains the bases adenine, cytosine, cytosine, and guanine, in that order. Which would be the order
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

If a strand of DNA contains the bases adenine, cytosine, cytosine and guanine the order of the bases on the opposite strand is thymine, guanine, guanine and cytosine.

Explanation:

DNA contains a double strand, each of which contains a specific sequence of bases —adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine— whose order determines the genetic information stored in this nucleic acid.

The sequence of bases on one DNA strand is complementary on the other strand, taking into account the complementarity of bases, i.e. the purines adenine and guanine are complemented by the pyrimidines thymine and cytosine, respectively:

A = T

G ≡ C

So that the sequence A - C - C - G of one chain is complemented by the sequence T - G - G - C of the other.

Taking into account the above information, the other options can be discarded, as they do not comply with the complementarity of bases in the DNA.

Virgin queens will only exit the hive for her mating flight(s) if the following condition is met: _________
Verdich [7]

Answer:

The correct answer is "the temperature is above 23 °C but not exceeding 40 °C".

Explanation:

The main function of virgin queens in a bee's hive is reproduction. Normally virgin queens do not exit the hive except to perform mating flight(s), which normally are done with 10–20 drone bees and then return to the hive as mated queen bees. Usually virgin queens perform her mating flight(s) in ideal temperature conditions, which are with a temperature above 23 °C but not exceeding 40 °C.
