Read the following paragraph. I believe that the “Read Books, Share the Love” advertisement effectively uses the association tec

hnique to convince people to read more books. The advertisement targets parents who perhaps could easily associate the children in the picture with their own children. In the ad, a mother and father are reading a book to their two young children. It seems that this has a positive connotation of intimacy and love. Maybe the image implies that reading is not just intellectually beneficial, but that it creates a closer bond between parents and their children. Because of this association technique, parents are persuaded to read to their children. Most parents certainly would want their children to do well academically and feel loved at the same time. Therefore, this ad effectively encourages literacy. Which of the following revisions would most likely improve this paragraph? a better explanation of the target audience the elimination of passive language more specific details from the ad a topic sentence

The correct answer is B. The elimination of passive language

Explanation:

The text presented in the question describes in a detailed way an advertisement and the way this is effective to persuade people to read books, especially to persuade parents to read with their children. In terms of structure, this paragraph introduces a clear topic sentence that summarizes the content of the paragraph "I believe that the “Read Books, Share the Love” advertisement effectively uses the association technique to convince people to read more books", then the author provides multiple details to describe the advertising, its target language and the connection between this and the purpose of the advertising and a concluding sentence, which makes this paragraph correct in terms of structure. However, the author uses passive language as in "parents are persuaded to read their children", that in terms of style should be avoided and replaced by active language such as "the advertising persuades parents to read their children". Therefore, the best way to improve this paragraph is to eliminate passive language as this would make the style of the text consistent.

When you are getting f s view from Gregor, who I believe in this book is the main character due to the fact everything is coming from his perspective. This effects the reader in the story by getting a better understanding how Gregor views the ones that he interacts with. Not only does it shed light on what kind of person Gregor is, it allows you to be drawn in to the book by the character as he experiences different situations with different characters. You'll be able to really paint out who Gregor is.

The last option is correct. The passage uses a specific example, but the main idea of the passage is that the systems in our body are connected, so laughter (because it’s a sign of happiness) can relieve stress and boost our immune system.

Yakvenalex [24]

A miller’s daughter dies in her bed, weakened from lack of food.

Another “poor, hunger-starved beggar boy” is found in the street and carried into a house, where he dies.

A four-year-old local boy dies “for want of food and means,” as does his mother.

You hear the story of a man leaving his home and walking hundreds of miles in search of work or food and returning after a couple of months with sufficient money only to find that his wife and children have all since died.

These four are clear explicit examples of starvation during Elizabethian times, since England faced hard times during Elizabethian times, since the population grew larger by a third, and the resources stayed the same, they had to divide the same products between more people.
