Answer:

b) a lawyer and Farmers' Alliance activist

Explanation:

Mary Elizabeth Lease was an American writer , political activist and lawyer.

Her involvement in the growing rebellion of farmers in Kansas due to high mortgage interest made her more popular. This acted as a stepping stone for her in joining the People's (Populist) Party.

She joined and due to her complaint about the populist governor Lewelling’s administration her relevance gradually dropped till she was kicked out of the party. Her absence was the reason many people believe made the Populist party to lose the election.

Why did President William McKinley annex Hawaii? Americans supported the cause of Hawaiian independence
weeeeeb [17]

 Answer :

when america annexed Hawaii in 1898, the U.S. territory extended into the Pacific, as result an highlighted economic integration and a rise  as a Pacific power.During the 1830s, Britain and France forced Hawaii to accept treaties giving them economic privileges. Therefore in 1842, Secretary of State Daniel Webster sent a letter to Hawaiian agents in Washington affirming U.S. interests in Hawaii and opposing annexation by any other nation and in 1849, they concluded a treaty of friendship that served as the basis of official relations between the parties.

As a economic result, fertile ground for american protestant missionaries, and a new source of sugar cane production, Hawaii's economy became increasingly integrated with the United States. An 1875 trade reciprocity treaty further linked the two countries and u.s. sugar plantation owners from the United States came to dominate the economy and politics of the islands

Spurred by the nationalism aroused by the Spanish-American War, the United States annexed Hawaii in 1898 at the urging of President William McKinley. Hawaii was made a territory in 1900, and Dole became its first governor.

Answer :

The correct answer is  americans supported the cause of Hawaiian independence

Because they could trade with Hawaii while he was independant, but if he loose his independance by being defeated by France or Great Britain their trading couldn't exist anymore.
