Claudette Colvin and Mary Louise Smith were arrested. On March 12, 1955, Claudette Colvin was arrested. She did not allow a white passenger to sit in her seat. She was 15 years old. On October 21, 1955, Mary Louise Smith was arrested. As in the case of Colvin, she did not give up her seat to a bus rider. She was 21 years old.
Rosa Parks was arrested. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks is arrested for the same reason.
The MIA started a carpool program. On December 13, the Montgomery Improvement Association launched a carpooling system for black people in the city that were participating in the boycott.
Martin Luther King was arrested. On March 19, 1956, MLK was indicted as the boycott’s leader. He was fined $500.-
Montgomery buses were integrated. On 5, 1956, a federal court ruled bus segregation unconstitutional.
Montgomery buses were attacked. On December 24, three days after the desegregation, a bunch of white men assaulted a black boy exiting the bus, and later, another bus was shot by snipers.
