Answer: Metaphors, poetic dialogue, verse division and presence of adjectives.

Explanation:

A poem is an artistic composition created for different reasons that depend on the author and on the social and historical context of creation. When we talk about the poetry we are talking about diversity due to, as societies, the poetic expressions have changed with times. However, there are some common recourses that a poet uses to express himself.

Alfred Lord Tennyson was an English poet and playwright that created the called “dramatic monologue” which is a special type of poetical composition. <em>The deserted house</em>, one of his poems published in 1830, is an example of his masterly work. In the composition, the author uses the metaphor of an abandoned and dark house to refer to a dead body.

There are some characteristics that its third fragment shows to allow us to catalogue it as a poetry material:

1. Metaphors: the author uses some metaphors to present facts and feelings, for example in: <em>“all within is dark as night”.</em>

2. Poetic dialogue: it is used to add different meanings to just one word giving an artistic point to the composition. It could be seen in:<em> “Close the door, the shutters close”</em> where the word close is repeated in order to put some emphasis on its meaning.

3. Verse division: As almost any poetical composition, this part of the poem is divided into verses.

4. Presence of adjectives: The poetical style frequently applies many adjectives in order to enlarge the word’s and sentences’ meanings. In all the fragment that interest us we can see this: <em>“But in a city glorious/ A great and distant city--have bought/ A mansion incorruptible.”</em>

Of course, it exists more figures and poetical licenses that this fragment shows, but with the anterior four examples, we can say that <em>The deserted house</em> is clearly a poetical material.

Answer:

- Controlled process.

Explanation:

Controlled processes are described as the processes that require the conscious attention or focus of the individual. Such processes require our deliberate or intentional effort to perform in a particular manner which is contrary to the automatic processing which doesn't require any such effort but instead an individual performs it without realizing it consciously(as one has been doing it for a long time).

In the given situation, Frank is engaged in his phone and therefore, could not think or pay attention(deliberately) to 'hear the doorbell'. He could not pay the focus that was required and thus, misses out to hear it. Therefore, '<u>controlled processes'</u> is the answer.
