In engineering and product design, it is important to consider the weights of people so that airplanes or elevators aren't overl

oaded. Based on data from the National Health Survey, we can assume the weight of adult males in the US has a mean weight of 177 pounds and standard deviation of 32 pounds. We randomly select 50 adult males. What is the probability that the average weight of these 50 adult males is over 190 pounds?

Answer:

0.002

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to estimate the standard error of the mean, so we can use it as a standard deviation of the sample of 50 males.

Standard error of the mean = standard deviation/√n

Standard error of the mean = 32/√50 = 4.52

Now we can use this Standard error of the mean to estimate z as follows:

Z = (x – mean)/standard deviation

Z = (190-177)/4.52

Z = 2.87

Using  a Z table we can find probability that mean is under 190

P (z<190)= 0.998

For the probability that the mean exceed 190 lbs we substract from 1

P(z>190) = 1 - 0.998 = 0.002

To find the mean you must add up all the numbers you have together and then divide the buy the amount of numbers you added. When you add these numbers up you get 30, and we have 5 numbers here, when we divide 30 by 5 we get 6. So, Tara is correct in saying that the mean is 6.

A dentist is making identical dental care bags for patients using 56 tubes of toothpaste, 112 packets of floss, and 85 toothbrus
marin [14]

Answer : Greatest number of identical dental care bags the dentist can make with the least items leftover is 1.

Number of bags will be 2,4,3 respectively.

Explanation:

Number of tubes of toothpaste = 56

Number of packets of floss = 112

Number of toothbrushes = 85

So, Greatest number of identical dental care bags the dentist can make with the least amount of items leftover from toothbrush  = H.C.F of 56,112, 85=   1   ( ∵ as they are coprime to each other )

Since there is no common factor among 56,112,85 but there is common factor between 56 and 112 i.e. 56 remaining bags from toothbrushes will be 85-56=29 .

So we consider 28 ,

Now, 56 can be written as 28×2

112 can be written as  28×4 and

84 can be written as 28× 3

So, there can be 28 bags in which all the three materials can be present  and there is no leftover from toothpaste and floss but there is leftover from toothbrushes only as we consider 84 instead of 85 to get divisible by 28 so we get the common factor easily.

so, there will be 2 two bags for toothpastes and 4 bags for floss and 3 bags for toothbrushes.

1. Find the area of the unshaded square
e-lub [12.9K]

The large square is 6 by 6 so it has area 6*6 = 36

The small square is 2 by 2 (since 6-2-2 = 2), so it has area 2*2 = 4

The difference in areas is 36 - 4 = 32 which is the area of the shaded region

----------------------------------------------------------------------

In summary:

1. The unshaded square (smallest square) has area 4 square inches

2. The area of the large square is 36 square inches

3. The shaded region (area of the frame) has area 32 square inches
