Alonzo graduates with a 3.8 GPA in Accounting from a New York university and receives offers of employment from three of the Big

Four accounting firms. While considering his options, a mid-sized firm in California calls and offers him twice the starting salary of his top offer. The only caveat is he needs to be in Los Angeles within the next week. Alonzo excitedly decides to take the California job. He refuses the other employment offers, breaks his lease in New York, sells or gives away most of his possessions, buys a new car, and heads for L.A. the next day. When he arrives three days later, the firm apologizes and informs Alonzo that the position is no longer available due to the loss of a major client. Based on these facts, does Alonzo have a potential claim against the accounting firm?

Answer:

Based on the facts, there is no legal claim he can create against the accounting firm

Explanation:

While it is true that Alonzo had received and accepted a formal proposal by the accounting firm in Los Angeles, it only becomes valid and binding when the contract with the company is signed. Therefore, any event that occurs between the acceptance of the proposal and the signing of the contract does not generate liability in either party. Unfortunately for Alonzo, there's no potential claim agains the accounting firm that he can do.

How do cells such as algae and protists avoid lysis in fresh water?
charle [14.2K]

The protists were able to avoid lysis by having its function of the contractile vacuole in which it helps in pumping the water which are enough or excess to get it out of the cell. While the algae avoids lysis was because of its cell wall that is rigid in nature.

Anton Leeuwenhoek Devised a primitive microscope to observe a sample of his tooth scrapings. How did this help contribute it to
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

C- it help to show that some bacteria are just one cell.

Explanation:

Anton Leeuwenhoek was the first scientist who observed the presence of bacteria in his tooth scratch under the microscope made by himself. At that time there was no concept of bacteria and he named those small creatures as animalcules which were later termed as bacteria.

Leeuwenhoek during 1670s  sent the details of his experimentation on algae and bacteria to Royal Society of London.

It was due to his that primitive experiment that made the discovery of bacteria and make it known to other scientists. Therefore option C is the best option that demonstrates that bacteria are single celled organisms that are very minute. When we look at cell theory there is a postulate that shows that cell is the fundamental unit of function and structure  of all living organisms. So, the work of Anton Leeuwenhoek holds substantial importance in the formulation of cell theory.

Hope it helps!

A country's ecological footprint can be calculated by multiplying its population size by the footprint of each individual. Why a
Alisiya [41]

Answer:

Ecological footprint estimates the requirements of renewable resources that a population consumes to live a particular lifestyle. Some ecologists are concerned because the result of the ecological footprint shows that the  demand of the population is increasing in comparison to the supply of nature.

For example in India, the ecological footprint shows negative impact of population demand over supply of nature.

LeeAnn wants to organize her data from researching the effect of hours of sunlight on plant growth to see if there is a trend in
saul85 [17]

The best way for LeeAnn to display her data for analysis so she can make predictions about the amount of light needed for maximum growth would be in a line graph.

A line graph is a chart that displays quantitative values over a period of time. A line graph is commonly used to display trends in a dataset and to evaluate how the data has changed over time. The line graph is made up of a horizontal x-axis and a vertical y-axis and each axis is labeled with a data type. In a line graph, the data points are plotted and are later joined by a line. The direction of the lines across the graph produces patterns that show the relationship between all the different variables in a dataset.

The ion composition of perilymph is similar to that of interstitial fluid; high sodium and low potassium levels. Dr. Luther stat
elena55 [62]

Answer and Explanation:

If the endolymph is mixed with the perilymph then their potassium levels will tend to reach to equilibrium as it is stated that the intermediate membrane have been ruptured. The potassium level will decrease here.

In stereocilia the concentration of the potassium will also tend to reach equilibrium because the membrane is ruptured and the flow of the ions will not remain unidirectional.

The calcium concentration is more in the perilymph as compared to endolymph so the rupturing will allow more calcium ions to get incorporated in the hair vesicles.

The hearing will be affected by mixing of endolymph and perilymph as it will disturb the concentration of various ions and hence the ion channel will be clogged and there will be hearing loss.
