Answer:

What the simile adds to this passage is:

* a comparison between the sea and a cauldron

* a visual representation of the sea’s anger

Explanation:

The question is not complete since it does not provide the passage, here is the passage:

In travail, sobbing, gaining on the current,

we rowed into the strait – Scylla to port

and on our starboard beam Charybdis, dire

gorge of the salt sea tide. By heaven! when she

vomited, all the sea was like a cauldron

seething over intense fire, when the mixture

suddenly heaves and rises.

This passage from the Odyssey gives a very extensive and complete description of the elements that are part of the simile, by making the comparison of elements it also provides a very visual and clear representation of the sea, one of the key parts is the use of the line "all the sea was like a cauldron"

Choose the correct end punctuation for this sentence: "Haltingly, she asked him if he would go to prom with her"
Leto [7]

Answer:

The correct option is <u>her?"</u>

Explanation:

The reason for the correct option:

The given sentence is a question, therefore the end punctuation will be question mark. And the sentence is in quotation mark because it was spoken by someone else. Hence, in an interrogative sentence the quotation mark will come after the punctuation.

Reason for incorrect options:

Options: her." and her".

The sentence is a question being asked, which cannot end with fullstop or point; therefore these options are incorrect.

Option: her"?

The punctuation mark that is question mark is correct, but the quotation mark will come after the question mark therefore this option is incorrect.

Additionally Edwards builds on one of his similes to create an extended analogy first find the paragraph that serves as one long
brilliants [131]

In the following excerpt of "Sinners in the hands of an angry God", Edwards extensively compares God's wrath with great Warters:

"The Wrath of God is like great Waters that are  dammed for the present; they increase more and  more, & rise higher and higher, till an Outlet is  given, and the longer the Stream is stop’d, the more  rapid and mighty is it’s Course, when once it is let  loose. 'Tis true, that Judgment against your evil  Works has not been executed hitherto; the Floods  of God’s Vengeance have been with-held; but your  Guilt in the mean Time is constantly increasing,  and you are every Day treasuring up more Wrath;  the Waters are continually rising an waxing more  and more mighty; and there is nothing but the meer  Pleasure of God that holds the Waters back that are  unwilling to be stopped, and press hard to go forward;  if God should only withdraw his Hand from  the Flood-Gate, it would immediately fly open,  and the fiery Floods of the Fierceness and Wrath of  God would rush forth with inconceivable Fury, and  would come upon you with omnipotent Power; and  if your Strength were ten thousand Times greater  than it is, yea ten thousand Times greater than the  Strength of the stoutest, sturdiest, Devil in Hell, it  would be nothing to withstand or endure it."

What does the simile underline on page 5 reveal about the Old Man?
Anna11 [10]

Answer:

He is humiliated by his defeat

Explanation:

Using the system of elimination you can cross out a few answers. He is not eager to confront his son because of the way it was written. He is not carrying his belongings because if you read a little bit further on his belongings had been taking by his son (the badgers). This would leave you with either him being exhausted by his struggle or being humiliated by his defeat. They both made sense to me but I think he was humiliated because he was confident about continuing to hunt them even though he was warned.
