Abstract art is a type of art that uses shape and color in ways that are independent from visual references in the world. This means that abstract art is not interested in reproducing reality or adhering to the logic of perspective. Nevertheless, this art can still have many elements of traditional art, such as emotion, meaning and color. Solid colored canvas would classify in this section because, even though they are not recreating a specific aspect of reality, they are nonetheless employing artistic techniques in order to convey a message.
