The United States broke diplomatic relations with Germany in 1917 due to the introduction of Germany's Navy policy of unlimited submarine warfare.

Further Explanations:

The actual conflict amid the United States and Germany began on 7th May 1915 when Germany purposely sank the British submarine “Lusitania” having more than a thousand commuters along with 100 American. As a result of it Unites States broke all its diplomatic relationships with Germany and pronounced its policy of unobstructed warfare. After it, Germany sank five more US navy that annoyed President Wilson even more. He though was in favor of neutrality, decided to enter the war and confirmed its entry on 6th January 1917. American's started hating German and considered them as their foe. Spite of it Americans never declared war on the central powers like Bulgaria, The Ottoman and other central allies. The war left a profound impact on the lives of citizens of both the nation as many publications of Germany were ceased and cities and buildings were renamed.

German-American relationship has existed since 1871, generally based on commerce and immigration. When Germany unified itself it became more dominant and powerful, their relationship encountered some mere fraction. The fraction was on issues of navy and economy. The factions were much less and were overlooked during that era.

Anna11 [10]

"Winter Dreams" is a short story written by Scott Fitzgerald in 1922. The main character is Dexter Green, a middle-class young boy that wishes to be part of the high class and to be rich. He falls in love with Judy Jones, a rich, beautiful girl, who plays with his feelings and misleads him plenty of times. Years later and after Judy has broken his heart, he goes to the First World War.

Afterwards, Dexter becomes an important businessman in New York, where he gets the news that Judy has gotten married and is abused by her husband. Even then, Dexter still has feelings for Judy but understands that it's too late now.

Thus, the right option is option a, He loved her, and he would love her until the day he was too old for loving—but he could not have her. So he tasted the deep pain that is reserved only for the strong, just as he had tasted for a little while the deep happiness.
