The correct answer is A.

The irony in this excerpt is given by the fact that what is intended to be an insult is taken as a compliment.

Fritz warns Frank that, because of her going out so much, people are starting to believe that she has a lover and that he is writing her books for her. He intents this as an insult, as if people are calling her a fraud.

However, for Frank, it is a compliment because if they believe her lover, a man, is writing them, then her books must be very good.

discuss how Ha Jin employs casual, informal language in his story “The Bane of the Internet” to make a deeper statement about th
Andrej [43]

Answer:

Ha Jin employs a<em> casual, informal language</em> in his story by<em> writing as if the reader is a person he knows.</em> This allows the reader to become part of the story he is creating. Since the tone is more "personal," the reader feels <u>the author's feelings and statements in the text</u> and gets involved in it.

Explanation:

The question above is related to the story entitled "The Bane of the Internet," written by Ha Jin<em> (a Chinese)</em>. It centers on the hardships of immigrating to another country and how tedious it is.

Writing may be done in a "formal way" or an "informal way." (I have already discussed the informal type of writing above). A formal type of writing, on the other hand, is impersonal in nature and more subjective than an informal way of writing. It is often used for <em>"academic or business purposes.</em>"

Which rhetorical strategy is Kennedy using in this excerpt from his address at Rice University? "I regard the decision last year
kvasek [131]

Answer: Ethos.

Explanation: there are three main rhetorical strategies when giving an argument in a speech or in a text, they are pathos, logos and ethos. Pathos is appealing to the audience's emotions, logos consists in appealing to the audience's logic, and ethos is appealing to the audience's ethics. In the given excerpt from Kennedy's speech, we can see an example of Ethos, because he is using his position as president (which gives him credibility) to convince the audience.

bekas [8.4K]

Answer:

C). Parody compares the pigs with human leaders in the real world.

D). Exaggeration makes Pilkington seem ridiculous and similar to the pigs.

E). Satire creates an attitude of contempt for the pigs’ treatment of the other animals.

Explanation:

Satire is demonstrated as the literary device that employs irony, humor, overstatement, or ridicule to reveal and comment upon the follies or vices inherent in the society or an individual.

In the given excerpt from 'Animal Farm', Orwell's use of parody(imitation of a specific author or genre to intentionally exaggerate it  and generate a comic effect) assists in establishing the comparison between the pigs and human leaders which critiques the foibles of the latter mockingly. Exaggeration helps in ridiculing Pilkington's foolishness that makes him look similar to the pigs. While <u>satire displays Orwell's disdainful attitude towards the manner in which the pigs(representing Pilkington) treat other animals('long working hours, absence of pampering')</u>. Thus, the satire assists in highlighting and critiquing the corruption and vices of the leader like Pilkington more effectively before the audience. Thus, <u>options C, D, and E</u> are the correct answers.
