Answer:

C) Clover feels frustrated at what has happened at the farm and at her inability to stop it.

Explanation:

" If she could have spoken her thoughts, it would have been to say that this was not what they had aimed at when they had set themselves years ago to work for the overthrow of the human race." Here she thinks of how she Could've spoken her thoughts and perhaps could've had an influence on the events, but now, she has lost hope, with no picture of the future with just terror and control everywhere. The other options don't really work with the text as the last sentence: "There was no thought of rebellion or disobedience in her mind." goes against A and she was for Old Major's beliefs, but is distraught that the society has gone completely away from what they were. Hope this helps, idk why the other answer is that from another question.

Pressed tightly against one another, in an effort to resist the cold, our heads empty and heavy, our brains a whirlwind of decay
nikdorinn [45]

Explanation:

1. Adjective that is best describing the atmosphere in this passage is ''never-ending''. It is showing the readers how the people are feeling about their situation which is also causing a never-ending night. The night was growing longer because of their numb minds and they were questioning themselves when they will die.

2. ''Our minds numb with indifference.'' is the excerpt from the passage that is revealing the atmosphere because the people in the story are indifferent. They are not afraid of death anymore because they know that they will die sooner or later. They are only questioning themselves when will that happen but they are also knowing that it does not matter when. They don't feel any emotions because they had surrendered.

3. This numb atmosphere of the story is showing us the meaning of it. People had found themselves in cold place and they stick together in order to survive the coldness. Their heads are heavy and they are remembering things. The author is showing that in those difficult situation people get indifferent and they can stop worrying about life. At the end of the passage, we can see that their thoughts are not good because they are making the situation even harder for them and causing never-ending night. The more they think, the more night is growing.

How does the pacing of this passage affect the reader's
Zinaida [17]

This question is about "Animal Farm".

Answer:

The slowing of the pace shows readers the cause of the windmill's destruction.

The slowing of the pace creates suspense for readers about what is to come.

The slowing of the pace gives readers details about the storm and its aftermath.

Explanation:

We often prefer narratives with faster rhythms, but slow rhythms are very important and constitute an important element in the narrative, being able to create suspense and leave the reader motivated and anxious about the events that will happen. In addition, the slowdown can provide explanations about the reason that possible facts occurred and possible elements happened in the narrative, in addition to showing the details of these elements and situations. This would never be possible in a fast-paced narrative where events are shown in a rush and frantic manner.

Examples of effects of the slow narration can be seen in animal farm as follows:

  • The slowing of the pace shows readers the cause of the windmill's destruction.
  • The slowing of the pace creates suspense for readers about what is to come.
  • The slowing of the pace gives readers details about the storm and its aftermath.
