A project requires an initial fixed asset investment of $148,000, has annual fixed costs of $39,800, a contribution margin of $1

4.62, a tax rate of 21 percent, a discount rate of 15 percent, and straight-line depreciation over the project's 3-year life. The assets will be worthless at the end of the project. What is the financial break-even point in units per year? (Hint: First solve for EAC and then use the formula)

Answer:

The firm needs to sale for 5,708 units to break even finnancially.

Explanation:

<u>We convert the fixed asset investment into an annuity:</u>

PV \div \frac{1-(1+r)^{-time} }{rate} = C\\

PV 148,000

time 3

rate 0.15

148000 \div \frac{1-(1+0.15)^{-3} }{0.15} = C\\

C  $ 64,820.590

Now, the amount above the annual fixed cost of 39,800 will be considered a gain for tax purposes, we need to increase it by 21% o give the sales before taxes.

before taxes target contribution:

64,820.59 / 1.20 = 54,017.16

We also have a depreciation component which generates a tax shield:

(148,000 / 3) x 21% = (10,360)

<em>Now, we solve for the break even point of the sum of this components:</em>

39,800 + 54,017.16 - 10,360= 83,457.16‬ dollars

Each units generates 14.62 dollars we divide and obtain the sales per year in untis:

83,457.16 / 14.62 = 5.708,42

Present three examples that illustrate how all decisions involve trade-offs
satela [25.4K]
It is probably safe to say that most if not all decisions involve trade-offs. For example a person may be offered a job that pays well but requires 7 days per week for a month and while this is good for a younger person with no other commitments it may not work for an older person with his own family commitments and other projects. Another decision could be that for support, a husband decides to not take on major time consuming projects while his wife is doing intensive studying to become certified in a field of her choosing  so that he can support her. Another example is that when one cannot drive one's son with a disability to a beach to swim because it is too far and uses too much car gas, the money saved on gas some of it could be spent on his groceries.

A bond with a coupon rate of 7% makes semiannual coupon payments on January 15 and July 15 of each year. The Wall Street Journal
VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

The invoice price of the bond will be $100,127.88

Explanation:

Bonds are nothing but the debt instrument which a company uses to raise capital from the general public, these bonds can be of both short and long term period.

In the question it is given that bond has a coupon period of 182 days which means the bond is of short term period. Coupon rate of 7% means the bond gives the interest of 7% to its holder semiannually every year on January 15 and July 15.

It is given that the ask price for the bond on January 30 is 100.125 percent on par value of the bond which we are assuming to be $1000, which means the ask price is

$1000 X 100.125 = $100,125    ( ASK PRICE)

now we have to calculate the interest, remember the semiannually payment of interest has already been made on January 15 which means we have to find interest for only 15 days which will be taken out on par value

INTEREST = $1000 x 7% x 15 / 30

                 = $1000 x .07 x 1/ 2

                 = $35

INVOICE PRICE = INTEREST X \frac{TOTAL \: NUMBER \: OF \: DAYS}{COUPON \: PERIOD}   + Ask price

        =  $35 X 15 / 182

        = $2.884

Now adding this amount in to ask price

$100,125 + $2.884

= $100,127.88  ( INVOICE PRICE)

An aircraft company has an order to refurbish the interiors of 18 jet aircraft. The work has a learning curve percentage of 80.
gavmur [86]

Answer:

a. 125.43 hours

b. 767.92 hours

c. 2,129.04 hours

Explanation:

Using the mathematical approach, we have :

y = ax ^b

Where ,

y is the average time to manufacture x units

a is the time its takes to manufacture first plane

b is the log of 80% divided by log 2

Then,

Average time for 5 planes = 300 (5)^-0.322

                                            = 178.67 hours

Total time for 5 planes = 178.67 hours × 5

                                      = 893.35

Average time for 4 planes = 300 (4)^-0.322

                                            = 191.98 hours

Total time for 5 planes = 191.98 hours × 4

                                      = 767.92 hours

The fifth plane would take =  893.35 - 767.92

                                            =  125.43 hours

Average time for the 18 planes = 300(18)^-0.322

                                                    = 118,28 hours

Total time for 18 planes = 118,28 hours × 18

                                       = 2,129.04 hours

soldi70 [24.7K]

Answer:

Chocolates R' Us, Inc.

Family hostility cannot be used as an argument to void the family attribution rules.

Lucy is still legally married to Desi.  What the husband, Desi, therefore, owes, she owes equally despite their separation and her intention to reduce her ownership in their joint company.

Explanation:

Family Attribution Rules:  Section 318 of the Internal Revenue Code says an individual shall be considered as owning the stock owned, directly or indirectly, by or for his spouse and his children, grandchildren, and parents, including legally adopted children.
