Which of the following is NOT a basic defensive driving

English

Answer:

I believe the best answer to be letter A) A solid grasp on the instruments and controls at your disposal.

Explanation:

We can reach the conclusion that letter A is the best option through elimination. First, let's keep in mind that the question asks for the one that is NOT a basic defensive driving skill. Letter E is already eliminated when we take a look at letter C. Scanning for hazards and adequate space management is certainly a most useful skill when it comes to driving. It prevents minor accidents that could very well turn into bigger ones. If you decide to change lanes without considering the amount of space between you and the cars at your front and back, you will end up crashing.

Letters B and D can surely be considered defensive driving skills. What many people don't understand is that defensive driving doesn't take place only during the action of driving. It begins before the action and proceeds till after it is done. Adjusting your mirrors, checking if the lights and turn signal are working, fastening the seat belt etc., are all measures to be taken prior to or after driving that make a huge difference and save lives.

Therefore, the only option that does NOT really seem to belong is letter A. Even though it seems weird not to have a solid grasp on the steering wheel, for instance, we must hold it firmly enough to not let it slip, but not so tightly that it will prevent us from quickly moving our hands when necessary. In case that explanation is not satisfactory, when we look up "defensive driving skills", we find references to all the other options except for this one. That's why I believe we can safely choose letter A.

Plagiarism quiz
GaryK [48]
Something is plagiarism if one takes material from another source and uses it without pointing toward that source, thus making it appear that it is originally written.

1. No, this is not plagiarism since she herself is the original writer, thus she is not stealing content from anybody else.

2. According to Casey Berry of Sciences Ltd., "Only 6% of students wash their hands after class." This first choice is not plagiarism, since the student has cited the researcher Casey Berry, and has enclosed the directly copied statement in quotation marks. In contrast, the second choice mentions "a recent study" without any direct mention of who did the study, and it copies the conclusion verbatim without using quotation marks.

3. This is not plagiarism, since she places a hyperlink to the source, thus acknowledging that what she has written is not her own original material. However, this is considered bad practice, to simply link to a source without describing what it has done or which parts specifically you have taken from it. You would not probably be sued in court for plagiarism, but it is still advisable to describe what the source has done.

4. No, this is not plagiarism. He has used quotation marks for direct quotes. The paraphrased information does not need quotation marks. Hyperlinks and attributions have been provided for each, so there are no issues with this kind of writing.

5. Yes, this is plagiarism. The BlogMutt writer got information from another post (which may or may not have been original material, we do not know), and did not attribute that post. Furthermore, this write-up is for a customer, not merely for discussion in forums, so pretending that the information on the post is his own is not only plagiarism, but it is also business dishonesty as he is stealing someone's work and selling it to a customer as his own.

Which of the following assertions in the passage does the author support with a practical example?A."[D]irect government by the
Sladkaya [172]

[I]t is impossible for the collectivity to undertake the direct settlement of all the controversies that may arise.

Answer: Option D.

Explanation:

The claim that has been given in this option has been supported by an example that has been given by the author in the final paragraph. The evidence is given of the time when Peter wrongs Paul in the passage.

The example given shows and demonstrates why is it weird and absurd to imagine that the entire collectivity would be able to examine the circumstances of the controversy and to adjudicate it and to make a formal judgement and the decision about a matter which is disputed.

You read a story about a woman named Maya Sweeten. If this story is a biography, which statements could be true? Select three an
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

B. Maya Sweeten was a real person

C. Maya Sweeten was a nurse who saved many lives.

F. Maya Sweeten was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1924.

The other ones are incorrect because they make no SENSE and you are talking about a biography which includes real life accomplishment and a real person. Obviously her being a fictional character wouldn't fit the picture since you are talking about a biography.

I hope I've helped!
