<span>I would assume that customers arrive at the queue according to the poisson process, and then decide whether to enter the queue or leave as per the rules in the question. for (a) I interpret "enter the system" as "join the queue". The expected time for this will be E(time until there is a free slot) + E(time for someone to arrive once a slot is free). Noting that the additional time taken for someone to arrive once a spot is free is independant of the time that the slot became free (memorylessness property of poisson process) The waiting time of a Poisson(\lambda) is exp(\lambda) with mean \frac{1}{\lambda} E(\text{Time someone enters the system})=\frac{1}{2\mu} + \frac{1}{\lambda} Your post suggests you already understand where \frac{1}{2\mu} comes from.</span>

Illusion [34]

Answer:

Results are below.

Explanation:

<u>To calculate the break-even point in units and dollars, we need to use the following formulas:</u>

Break-even point in units= fixed costs/ contribution margin per unit

Break-even point in units= 187,200 / (500 - 140)

Break-even point in units= 520

Break-even point (dollars)= fixed costs/ contribution margin ratio

Break-even point (dollars)= 187,200 / (360 / 500)

Break-even point (dollars)= 187,200 / 0.72

Break-even point (dollars)= $260,000

<u>Now, to calculate the margin of safety for 700 units, we need to use the following formulas:</u>

Margin of safety= (current sales level - break-even point)

Margin of safety= (700*500) - 260,000

Margin of safety= $90,000

Margin of safety ratio= (current sales level - break-even point)/current sales level

Margin of safety ratio= 90,000 / 350,000

Margin of safety ratio= 0.2571

<u>Finally, the desired profit is $110,000:</u>

Break-even point in units= (fixed costs + desired profit) / contribution margin per unit

Break-even point in units= (187,200 + 110,000) / 360

Break-even point in units= 826

For a cost to be considered allocable to a contract, it must be a cost that is incurred specifically for a contract, or a cost t
Naily [24]

Answer:

a. A cost that is necessary for the overall operation of the business but not directly related to a contract

Explanation:

Option B - Allocable costs cannot be considered if the contractor is doing business with the government.

Option C - If the cost is exempted, it cannot be specifically allowable for a contract, or a cost that is beneficial to both the contract and other work.

Option D - Indirect costs cannot be allowable.

Option A - It is the right answer because allowable cost should be significant for the operations with an indirect relation with the contract. If it is linked with the overall operations, it can be considered as allowable to a contract.

Describe two disadvantages of early forms of money, and explain how they could have been fixed.
Gwar [14]

Every country had different types of coins with different values and they were not easily comparable in value with the money from the other countries.  This could have been fixed with collaboration between neighboring countries from certain areas to create same types of coins that have the same value so that they can use them easily for the trade that was occurring between the different economies.

Every craftsmen that had the skills and tools and suitable material was able to create copies of the money. This could have been fixed with strict regulations on every craftsmen by the authorities. Also putting a unique mark on the different types of coins by the official producers that was not easy to be copied.

A proposed project has fixed costs of $83,000 per year. The operating cash flow at 9,100 units is $ 102,900. Ignoring the effect
natta225 [31]

Answer:

Ignoring the effect of taxes, what is the degree of operating leverage?

  • 1.81

If units sold rise from 9,100 to 9,500, what will be the increase in operating cash flow?

  • $8,171.43 or 7.94%

what is the new degree of operating leverage?

  • 1.75

Explanation:

degree of operating leverage = (units sold x contribution margin) / [(units sold x contribution margin) - fixed costs]

(units sold x contribution margin) - fixed costs] = $102,900

units sold x contribution margin = $102,900 + $83,000 = $185,900

degree of operating leverage = $185,900 / $102,900 = 1.81

contribution margin = $185,900 / 9,100 = $20.4286

operating cash flow (at 9,500 units) = (9,500 x $20.4286) - $83,000 = $111,071.43

operating cash flow will increase by $8,171.43 or 7.94%

new degree of operating leverage = $194,071.43 / $111,071.43 = 1.75
