Answer:

Since there are Latinos in the United States, there are also Day of the Dead. It was brought north with the migration, but it has not been until the last few years that it has entered the mainstream media.

According to Ron López, president of the Department of Chicano and Latino Studies, of Sonoma State University, “in the eighties we saw more people coming from other parts of southern Mexico, previously it was more from the north and the capital. The change in migration brought those traditions, such as the Day of the Dead to the United States. ”

When the Disney corporation released the movie "Coco" in 2017, it not only popularized the Day of the Dead among the Anglo-Saxon community, but somehow caricatured the ceremony. Due to its proximity to October 31, Day of the Dead has sometimes been referred to as an extension of Halloween by those who are not familiar with the holiday. Nothing could be further from the truth.

While Halloween is often framed in horror and fear, Day of the Dead is focused on memory and celebration. It is about meeting spiritually with ancestors who have passed away and celebrating their memory. On the Day of the Dead we recognize that death is a natural part of the human cycle, we are not afraid of it.

Finish this simile: English class is like...
Law Incorporation [45]

English class is like receiving presents on your birthday

or

English class is like having to sit through a movie you didn’t want to see but will be tested on when it’s over.

Similes are comparisons using the words “like” or “as” in order to give readers a better sense of understanding when there may otherwise be little understanding or not the understanding a writer wishes to convey. What this means is that authors will compare something that may not be known to readers to something that most likely will be known in order to present the best image understood by the most readers. Because not everyone may have the same perspective of an English class as you, for instance, one way to convey an idea of what English class is to you, the use of a simile would work well. If you enjoyed your English class you might compare it to something you know your general audience enjoys and write something like “English class is like receiving presents on your birthday” because of how each day’s knowledge is wonderful surprising experience for you. If you hated English class, you might write something like English class is like having to sit through a movie you didn’t want to see but will be tested on when it’s over. As you can see the use of similes make writing more expressively.
