Apollo is indeed the God of Healing. Since he is the God of Light and Life, healing is associated with him. He is also using sun as a symbol together with bow.

Oedipus used Apollo's oracle which is located in his temple in Delphi to ask for Apollo's advice regarding unexplained plague which was occuring in Thebes that time. Phytia answered him. He asked his brother in law, Creon to see the plague. When he returns, he told Oedipus that it is a punishment from Gods. The Oracle also revealed a prediction that Oedipus will kill his father and will be married to his mother.

Apollo has an oracle because he uses it to communicate to people. He is using an Phytia, one of the priestess in the temple to send his message to everyone. His message can be composed of advices, future (predictions), questions and guidance to people, the Delphi city and other things.

Satire depends on the audience recognizing and agreeing with the satirist's implicit criticism of his or her target. How effecti
Montano1993 [528]

Satire is a genre of literature in which individuals, corporation, government or society are ridiculed in purpose of constructive social criticism, using wit to draw attention to both particular and wider issues in society in order to correct or shape opinions and behavior. But, satire can’t be effective in shaping behavior or opinions if the audience is always in on the joke and never being targeted. The effectiveness of satiric work is mirrored in sole comprehension of the targeted group of individuals that they are wrong, and should correct their opinions and behavior. Many satiric writers believe that satires should be medicine disguised as candy, so it would be easier for targeted group to accept it. If only non-targeted audience comprehend the joke (main idea of satiric work), the satire would not be effective as they agree with author’s criticism and there is no need for them to correct their behavior nor their opinions.

Select the correct answer. Upon what source did John Bunyan model his writing style in The Pilgrim's Progress?
Licemer1 [7]

The source that modeled John Bunyan's writing style in The Pilgrim's Progress was a. the English Bible.

The Pilgrim's Progress (1678) is considered to be a Christian allegory. Besides being a writer, John Bunyan was also a Puritan preacher and that is why his works were all highly influenced by religion. In The Pilgrim's Progress all the characters of the story have names that are considerably significant, such as Christian, Evangelist and Goodwill. The Pilgrim's Progress, narrated by an omniscient narrator, tells the story of Christian's journey from his hometown, the "City of Destruction," to the "Celestial City", which represents Heaven. Furthermore, during his journey, Christian carries a book that is thought to be the Bible. Bunyan’s selection of words, the use of direct and indirect quotations from The Bible and the name of places such as the Palace Beautiful and the wall called Salvation also show the influence of the sacred text in the book. In addition, Bunyan resorts to a simple and colloquial but energetic language that has also been taken from the Bible.
