Answer:

b) prejudice

Explanation:

This question is incomplete. The possible options for this question are:

a) stereotype

b) prejudice

c) global assesment

d) specific appraisal

There's a subtle difference between a stereotype and a prejudice.

A stereotype is a thought that someone has about specific types of individuals or certain groups of society that may or may not accurately reflect reality. In other words, they are ideas about a particular group. If we make a generalisation about a group without knowing them, we are talking about a stereotype.

A prejudice is not a thought but an opinion which is usually unfavourable and that was formed without having evidence on the matter.

So, a stereotype is a thought while a prejudice has to do with feelings or attitudes about that person or group. Also, prejudices make us think that some groups are less capable than others.

In this example, Devin decides not to hire Margaret because she was in a rehab center and he thinks that people with drug habits are not trustworthy. Devin is not having a thought but rather an opinion about people with drug habits and this opinion makes him think that Margaret is less capable for the job. Therefore, this is an example of prejudice.
