A research firm needs to estimate within 3% the proportion of junior executives leaving large manufacturing companies within thr

ee years. A 0.95 degree of confidence is to be used. Several years ago, a study revealed that 21% of junior executives left their company within three years. To update this study, how many junior executives should be surveyed?

Answer:

n=\frac{0.21(1-0.21)}{(\frac{0.03}{1.96})^2}=708.134

And rounded up we have that n=709

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The population proportion have the following distribution

p \sim N(p,\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}})

Solution to the problem

In order to find the critical value we need to take in count that we are finding the interval for a proportion, so on this case we need to use the z distribution. Since our interval is at 95% of confidence, our significance level would be given by \alpha=1-0.95=0.05 and \alpha/2 =0.025. And the critical value would be given by:

z_{\alpha/2}=-1.96, z_{1-\alpha/2}=1.96

The margin of error for the proportion interval is given by this formula:

ME=z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{n}}    (a)

The value for \aht p =0.21. And on this case we have that ME =\pm 0.03 (within 3%) and we are interested in order to find the value of n, if we solve n from equation (a) we got:

n=\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{(\frac{ME}{z})^2}   (b)

And replacing into equation (b) the values from part a we got:

n=\frac{0.21(1-0.21)}{(\frac{0.03}{1.96})^2}=708.134

And rounded up we have that n=709

If f (x) = x + 7 and g (x) = StartFraction 1 Over x minus 13 EndFraction, what is the domain of (f circle g) (x)? StartSet x ver
nekit [7.7K]

Answer:

The domain of the function will be {x I x ≠ 13}.

Step-by-step explanation:

The two functions f(x) and g(x) are given to be

f(x) = x + 7 and

g(x) = \frac{1}{x - 13}

Now, we have to find the composite function (fog)(x).

Here, (fog)(x) = f{g(x)}

⇒ (fog)(x) = f(\frac{1}{x - 13}) = \frac{1}{x - 13} + 7 = \frac{7x - 90}{x - 13}

Therefore, the denominator of the function can not be zero and the domain of the function will be {x I x ≠ 13}. (Answer)

A map of Colorado says that the scale is 1 inch to 20 miles or 1 to 1,267,200. Are these two ways of reporting the scale the sam
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

1,267,200

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the map reported that the scale is 1 inch to 20 miles.

Recall that there are 63,360 inches in 1 mile, thus, in 20 miles, we have 20 x 63,360 = 1,267,200

Therefore, the scale of 1 inch to 20 miles can also be represented as 1 to 1,267,200

 how do i slove  5/9v+w=z, for v
nekit [7.7K]
Okay, let's do this~

we want v isolated on one side so let's bring w over through subtraction

now we have 5/9v=z-w

now, to get rid of that fraction attached to v, we will multiply it's reciprocal on both sides.

*the reciprocal of 5/9 is 9/5

(5/9) x (9/5) cancel each other leaving v isolated to the left

the other side should look like this 9/5(z-w)

now we put both parts together to end up with:

v= 9/5(z-w)

there you go! :D

Sonam sold two cars for nu. 55055 each. one has gained him 16% while the other made him loss 16%. how much does he loss or gain
statuscvo [17]

Answer: Total Loss or Gain = $0

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Gain:   $55,055 (1 + 0.16)

        = $55,055 (1.16)

        = $63,863.80

Profit = $8,808.80

Loss:   $55,055 (1 - 0.16)

        = $55,055 (0.84)

        = $46,246.20

Loss = -$8,808.80

Profit + Loss

= $8,808.80 - $8,808.80

= 0
