Hello, I am a Spanish speaker and would like to help you. In this exercise, we use the verbs ser and estar (the verb to be, in English) in the present tense.

We use the verb ser to talk about permanent or lasting attributes. In this way, this verb stands for descriptions, occupations, characteristics, time, origin and relationships.

On the other hand, we use the verb estar to indicate temporary states and locations. In this way, this verb stands for position, location, action, condition, and emotion.

______________________________________________________

So, let's talk about each sentence:

1) Tengo miedo. Creo que la motocicleta no es segura

So, the right answer is no es segura

The translation of the sentence is:

I'm scared. I think the motorcycle is not safe

In this sentence, es is the conjugation of the verb ser for the third-person singular. This verb stands for description here.

2) Yo ya estoy lista para salir. ¿Y Miriam?

So, the right answer is no estoy lista

The translation of the sentence is:

I'm ready to go out. And Miriam?

In this sentence, estoy is the conjugation of the verb estar for the first-person singular and listo is an adjective that means ready. Since the speaker in this sentence is a woman the adjective listo changes to lista (the feminine form). The verb estar stands for action here.

3) No me gusta la película. Es muy larga y aburrida.

So, the right answer is no Es muy larga

The translation of the sentence is:

I do not like the movie. It's very long and boring.

In this sentence, we also use the verb ser to describe that the movie is very long and boring.

4) ¿Dónde están nuestros pasaportes?

So, the right answer is no están

The translation of the sentence is:

Where are our passports?

In this sentence, están is the conjugation of the verb estar for the third-person plural. So, someone is asking for several passports.

5) La habitación está sucia

So, the right answer is no está sucia

The translation of the sentence is:

The room is dirty

In this sentence, está is the conjugation of the verb estar for the third-person singular. The verb estar stands for condition here.

6) La reunión con la agente de viajes es a las cuatro de la tarde.

So, the right answer is no es

The translation of the sentence is:

The meeting with the travel agent is at four in the afternoon.

In this sentence, we also use the verb ser. So, the verb estar stands for condition here.

7) Mi maleta es pequeña

So, the right answer is no es pequeña

The translation of the sentence is:

My suitcase is small

In this sentence, we also use the verb estar to describe something, that is, the size of the suitcase.

8) ¿Dónde está la salida?

So, the right answer is no está

The translation of the sentence is:

Where is the exit?

In this sentence, we use the verb estar to ask for a location
