When Gatsby declares that Daisy "never loved" Tom and asks Daisy to tell Tom this, Daisy answers indirectly and then later says
lora16 [44]

Answer:

Daisy at first answered indirectly and then admitted with reluctance which shows her indecisive nature and the dilemma she was put in between Jay and Tom. Also, she had loved both men and didn't seem to want to lose either one.

Jay Gatsby's need to hear the words from Daisy's mouth shows his need of validation and support from the very person he was referring to, who was 'supposedly' with him.

Explanation:

In Chapter 7 of the text "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald shows the scene where Tom, Daisy, Jay, Nick and Jordan were in the room above the ballroom. This scene reveals the conflict between the couple, Jay's wants f reassurance and Daisy's confusing nature.

When Jay asked Daisy to tell her husband Tom that she never really loved him, she indirectly said it, "<em>Why,—how could I love  him—possibly?" </em>and then with<em> "perceptible reluctance"</em> said <em>"I never loved him</em>". This reluctance on daisy's part shows the inconclusive nature of her choice, her inability to make up her mind and her indecisiveness in what she wants.

On the other hand, Gatsby kept on stating the fact that she doesn't love Tom and telling her to say it out loud shows his need of assurance and validation from Daisy. Even he seemed to know of Daisy's dilemma in choosing her side, and also it shows his need to be wanted and loved by the very girl who had left him.

Polonius’s character is complex in the excerpt because
olga2289 [7]

Answer: The character of Polonius is complex because he practices deception in the Act III of Hamlet.

<u>Explanation:</u>

In the Act III of Hamlet, the character of Polonius is shown as a deceptive character. The proof for this is given in the excerpt. There was a deal made between Polonius and Claudius. According to this deal, Polonius was going to hide in the chamber of Gertrude. The reason for this hiding is that he wanted to hear the conversation between Hamlet and his mother and this can be done only by hiding himself.

Along with this of hearing the conversation by hiding himself in the chamber, he also wanted to convince Gertrude that Gertrude should not be so partial towards Hamlet . This made him have a deceptive character in the act and because of this he is said to have a character which is complex in the Act of Hamlet.

Nicki dashed up the shore and into the forest not stopping to think. She could feel the footsteps behind her the nameless thugs
Genrish500 [490]

<u>Answer:</u>

<em>The second statement in the given excerpt illustrates that Nicki is a round character. </em>

<em></em>

<u>Explanation:</u>

This is because she is feeling the footsteps of the thugs and also is able to think about their behaviour or character. She can compare their characteristics with the sacks of sugar because it can be bought and sold. She is not indulging into deep thinking by stopping in the woods. Rather she knows and thinks while moving forward and figuring out what to do.
