If you were studying the effects of climate change on the geographic ranges of species living in the mountains and your climate

records showed that mean temperatures were increasing, which species would you be MOST concerned about from a conservation standpoint?
-a species that is a habitat generalist and lives at low elevations
-a species that is a habitat specialist and lives at the highest elevations
-a species that is a habitat specialist and lives at low elevations
-a species that is a habitat generalist and lives at middle elevations

A species that is habitat specialist and lives at the highest elevation.

Explanation:

An ecosystem consist of plants, animals as well as micro-organisms but due to climate change the plants as well as animals are in danger . The case that has been provided in the question where due to climate change the temperature rises as a result the species living at the highest elevation are in problem .

Due to rise in temperature the snow is melting and the sea water level is rising. The animals and plants adapt themselves according to the climate where they are residing but suddenly if climatic change take place they will be unable to survive.

The animals which are mostly affected due to climatic change are snow leopard, polar bear, giant panda.

19. If a scientist needs to use a large dataset to explore how corn grows in different soils, how would this data be classified?
Illusion [34]

ANSWER:

The correct option is B- Qualitative.

EXPLANATION:

When the growth of corn has to be recorded, the quality of the corn grown in different soils needs to be recorded. Qualitative methods are best used to classify quality of anything.

Qualitative data basically is non-numerical data which in the case of corns can be the length of the corn plant, the sweetness of the corn kernel or the hardness or softness of the corn. This data cannot be recorded using numerical values and so other methods of data recording cannot be used.

Maggie's Plant Experiment In this exercise you will read the following scenario and identify the parts of the scientific method
ANTONII [103]

Answer:

Please find the identified steps of the scientific method below

Explanation:

A scientific method is a series of steps that aims at solving a problem. The steps in a scientific method include:

1. Making observation: In this experiment, Maggie observed when she read that some plants grow better if the soil is acidic. This is her observation that led to the scientific question: Do plants grow better in an acidic soil?

2. Formulating hypothesis: Hypothesis is a testable explanation to a problem. In this experiment, Maggie's hypothesis is; IF acid is added to the soil, THEN plants will grow better

3. Test hypothesis: the hypothesis is tested by conducting an experiment. In this case, Maggie places two geranium plants of the same size in two pots. Then she added a tablespoon of vinegar to one of the pots and allows the other grow normally without acid. The independent variable in this experiment is the vinegar added while the dependent variable is the height of the plants. The plant group with the vinegar is the experimental group while the plant group without vinegar is the control group. The constants of this experiment are same sunlight, same amount of water, same location etc.

4. Analyse data: The growth of the control and experimental plants were measured every week for five weeks by measuring their heights. The height (cm) of the plants with vinegar for the five weeks as as follows: 10.0, 12.4, 14.8, 18.0, 21.4 while the height in cm for the plants without vinegar for the five weeks is as follows: 10.0, 11.5, 13.0, 15.7, 17.8.

5. Conclusion: Based on the result, the plants exposed to vinegar grew better each week except week 1, which is the week they started. Hence, the hypothesis of this experiment will be ACCEPTED because the experiment proves it.
