A standard work year is 2000 hours at the Luther Mill and it takes about an hour and a half to fill a customer order. The manage

r at the mill is always concerned about employee idle time, so he aims for a capacity cushion of two percent. Last year saw 15,000 customer orders at the mill and the manager has a new John Deere in mind as a company car, so he hopes that there is an increase of 15% in customer orders for next year. Answer: The manager will need Thirteen workers to fill in customers order by next year.

Explanation: to calculate how many employees needed, we will calculate it in steps.

STEP 1: Find the number of customers the manager is expecting next year. Since their will be a 15% increase.

15,000 × 15% = 2250

Therefore the expected customer is

2250 + 15,000 = 17,250

STEP2: How many hours should be used to fill all customers order by next year; since it takes one and half hour to fill a customers demand.

17,250 × 1.5 = 25,875hours

STEP3: How many hours does each employee gives a customer in a year; since 2% is used for their own relaxed time.

2000 × 2% = 40hours

Therefore;

2000 - 40 = 1960hours

STEP3: How many employees will be needed to satisfy 17,250 customers; since each employee works for 1960hour and the total hours to fill all customers order is 25,875hours

25,875 ÷ 1,960 = 13.202

Therefore the manager needs 13 workers to fill in customers order.

Answer:

Explanation:

Customer orders for last year were 15000

Order for next year with 15% increase = 15000 x 1.15 = 17250

It takes 1.5 hours to fill a customer order

Cumulative amount of time required to fill customers order = 17250 x 1.5 = 25875

Given that standard work year = 2000 hours

Therefore , effective work year with 2 % capacity cushion

= Standard work year x ( 1 – Capacity cushion %/100)

= 2000 x 0.98  = 1960 hours

Number of workers needed by manager

= Cumulative amount of time required to fill customers orders / effective work year

= 25875 / 1960  = 13.20 which is 13 (rounded)

Manager will need 13 workers nex year

On December 31, 2020, Central Freight reported an allowance for uncollectible accounts of $15,300. During 2021, Central wrote of
vampirchik [111]

Answer:

Explanation:

To write off specific accounts:

Debit (contra asset account) - Allowance for uncollectible accounts $17,000

Credit (asset account) - Accounts receivable $17,000

To reinstate account previously written off:

Debit (asset account) - Accounts receivable $750

Credit (contra asset account) - Allowance for uncollectible accounts $750

To adjust allowance for uncollectible accounts at year-end :

Bad debt expense = allowance for uncollectible accounts at the end of the period - (allowance for uncollectible accounts at the beginning of the period - wrote off + reinstate account previously written off)

Bad debt expense = $14,900 – ($15,300 – $17,000 + $750)

Debit (expense account) - Bad debt expense $15,850

Credit (contra asset account) - Allowance for uncollectible accounts 15,850

Tomey Corporation has two production departments, Forming and Finishing. The company uses a job-order costing system and compute
Bogdan [553]

Answer:

a. $5,604

Explanation:

Forming Department overhead cost = Fixed manufacturing overhead cost + (Variable overhead cost per machine-hour × Total machine-hours in the department)

= $99,000 + ($2.10 per machine-hour × 18,000 machine-hours)

= $99,000 +$37,800 = $136,800

Predetermined overhead rate = Estimated total manufacturing overhead cost ÷ Estimated total amount of the allocation base incurred

= $136,800 ÷ 18,000 machine-hours

= $7.60 per machine-hour

Overhead applied to a particular job = Predetermined overhead rate × Amount of the allocation base incurred by the job

= $7.60 per machine-hour × 90 machine-hours

= $684

Finishing Department overhead cost = Fixed manufacturing overhead cost + (Variable overhead cost per direct labor-hour × Total direct labor-hours in the department)

= $70,400 + ($3.70 per direct labor-hour × 8,000 direct labor-hours)

= $70,400 + $29,600 = $100,000

Predetermined overhead rate = Estimated total manufacturing overhead cost ÷ Estimated total amount of the allocation base incurred

= $100,000 ÷8,000 direct labor-hours = $12.50 per direct labor-hour

Overhead applied to a particular job = Predetermined overhead rate × Amount of the allocation base incurred by the job

= $12.50 per direct labor-hour × 60 direct labor-hours

= $750

Answer:

geometric mean return = 1.2%

arithmetic mean return = 1.21%

Explanation:

Year            Price            Dividend              Yearly return

1                  $43.37                 -                            0

2                 $48.35            $0.60                      1.24%

3                 $57.27            $0.63                       1.1%

4                 $45.35            $0.80                       1.76%

5                 $52.27            $0.85                       1.63%

6                  $61.35            $0.93                       1.52%

geometric mean return = [(1 + 0) x (1 + 0.0124) x (1 + 0.011) x (1 + 0.0176) x (1 + 0.0163) x (1 + 0.0152)]¹/⁶ - 1 = 1.012 - 1 = 0.012 = 1.2%

arithmetic mean return = (0% + 1.24% + 1.1% + 1.76% + 1.63% + 1.52%) / 6 = 7.25% / 6 = 1.21%
