Answer:

a. Savers who lend money are willing to accept a lower minimum interest rate than potential savers who do not lend money.

b. Investment projects that are financed by savers have larger rates of return than projects that do not receive financing.

Explanation:

Loanable funds refer to the aggregate amount of money that all sectors, entities and individuals within an economy have decided to keep as an investment, instead of spending on personal consumption, by saving and giving them out as loans to borrowers.

The market for loanable funds is in equilibrium when the supply of loanable funds by the saver is equal to demand for loanable funds by the borrowers at a given interest rate.

When the market for loanable funds is in equilibrium, efficiency is maximized because projects that have higher rates of return are given priority to be funded first before the projects with lower rates of return are funded. The reason is that savers that have lowest costs of lending provides funds for the projects that have highest return rates in equilibrium. However, potential saver who do not lend money will prefer a higher interest rates.

Therefore, the correct options related to the two aspects of efficiency that the equilibrium of market for loanable funds exhibits are as follows:

a. Savers who lend money are willing to accept a lower minimum interest rate than potential savers who do not lend money.

b. Investment projects that are financed by savers have larger rates of return than projects that do not receive financing.

tamaranim1 [39]

Answer: Please refer to Explanation

Explanation:

June 30, 2020

DR Bond Interest Expense $18,284

DR Premium on Bonds Payable $1,966

CR Cash $20,250

(To record Payment of Bond Interest)

Workings

Cash

Semi Annual Payment of Interest means that the interest rate of 9% which is annual will be split into 2 to make it 4.5% to make it semi annual.

= 450,000 * 4.5%

= $20,250

Premium on Bonds Payable

The straight-line bond amortization method means that a Bond's Discount or Premium amount will be amortized in equal proportions for the duration of the bond's life.

Seeing as there are semi annual payments, the Premium will be amortized semi-annually.

There are 3 years so semi-annually would be,

= 3 * 2

= 6 periods.

Semi- Annual Bond Amortization for the premium is therefore,

= 11,795/6

= $1,966

Bond Interest Expense

= Cash - Premium on Bonds Payable

= 20,250 - 1,966

= $18,284

At the end of Year 1, Voss Company had $8,000 of inventory. During Year 2 the following events occurred: (1) Voss Company purcha
soldi70 [24.7K]

Answer:

$15,000

Explanation:

Year 2

Opening inventory = $8,000

Purchases = $10,000

Sales = $15,000 (cash received = $20,000)

Inventory count at year end = $1,000

Amount to be written to p/l = 8000 + 10000 - 1000

                                             = $17,000

However, the cost of goods sold is $15,000 while the remaining $2,000 is recognized as inventory write down.

At the beginning of October, owners' equity in Waldorf was $480,000. Given the transactions in October 2018, what will be the ow
Nina [5.8K]

Answer:

The Question is incomplete therefore the complete question may be like this;

Waldorf has following transactions in month of October 2018

1) Cash received from bank loans $60,000

2)Dividend paid  to stockholders  of $18,500 in cash

3) Revenue earned and received in cash amounted to $100,500

4) Expenses incurred and paid were $78,000

Now we can solve the question with above additional information;

Explanation:

Owners' Equity at 1st October 2018           $480,000

Dividend Paid                                               ($18,500)

Revenue received                                        $100,500

Expenses paid                                               ($78,000)

Net Owners' Equity at 31st October 2018   $484,000

Owners' equity represents investments made by the owner less any withdrawal made thereof in terms of dividends or drawings. Bank loan is liability which has nothing to do with capital or owners' equity. Therefore the bank loan received is not accounted for here.

Suppose a mutual fund yielded a return of 14% last year. The risk-free rate was 5% last year and the stock market return was 10%
Makovka662 [10]

Answer:

Beta is 1.8

Explanation:

CAPM or capital asset pricing model is used to compute expected return on stock by establishing relationship between expected returns and systematic risk (also called beta).

Given:

Return on mutual fund = 14%

Risk free rate (Rf) = 5%

Market return (Rm) = 10%

Risk premium = Rm - Rf

                      = 10% - 5%

                      = 5%

CAPM formula:

Returns = Rf + β(Rp)

14% = 5% + β(5%)

β = 9 / 5

β = 1.8

Beta of mutual fund is 1.8
