Examples expand on your claims by giving listeners concrete cases that support your statements. Facts and statistics are also strong because they have been reviewed by experts, and the knowledge has been acquired in an unbiased, systematic way. On the other hand, anecdotes and opinions cannot be generalized and therefore do not provide strong evidence in a debate.
