Answer:

I got in trouble in Math class today.

While I was working on my assignment ,

Sarah asked me to help her with a

question. I knew we weren't supposed

to be talking, but I decided to help her.

Mr. Jones, who is always such a nice

teacher, stared directly at me angrily.

He said, “Rachel you need to be quiet

immediately!” Everyone stopped what

they were doing, looked up, and stared

at me. Since I was absolutely mortified ,

I really didn't know what to do or say.

The man at the gas station gave me directions and then kept on chatting, telling me about the weather to come and places to stay
AnnZ [28]

Answer:

Meaning of laconic

It's the style of talking, people who answer in the few brief words. So, in this passage it shows that wife doesn't talk generally, but briefly, since it also says "occasionally correcting him on his lefts and rights", so she didn't really give the directions she just corrected his husband.

malfutka [58]
Utilitarian must mean useful and practical.
As you can see in the excerpt above, it says that writers such as Franklin, Paine, Jefferson, and their contemporaries, wrote fiction which served a particular purpose, as opposed to other writers who only wanted to entertain the masses. So, their purpose was not to entertain, therefore fun oriented is wrong here.
